Mpg Drop After First Service

Recommended Posts

I have a RX400h which was has happily done 31-32mpg over the first 10,000 miles.

I had it service at Lexus Leicester and now can not get better that 25-26mpg!

Has any other member had any similar experience? Or any clues as to why this should happen?

Regards

Martin

I've always kept a check on all my cars' miles per gallon. I don't analyse each tank as it's not very accurate (like the onboard computer's analysis). I wait for about 5,000 miles to calculate and then feel confident that my figures are very accurate. I lost 1 mile per gallon after my first service and have never found out why. Your case is much worse. I cleaned the MAF filter but it made no difference. I would have expected a slight increase in mpg as the engine loosened up but the opposite happened. I'm hoping that things will improve after my 20,000 mile service as a new air filter should be fitted then. Not much is done at the first "service" so it comes as a shock to pay out and get poorer performance than when you took it in!

Hope you get it sorted,

Alan
