Internal Alarm Fault In Rx300

Recommended Posts

Hi,

A month ago we bought a 2nd hand 04 Lexus RX300. So far we love it. However it has recently come up with problem regarding the internal radar alarm, which is apparently faulty. Apparently it costs £585 to fix, which i am loath to spend seeing as we have only just bought it.

The Lexus service center said that we can deactivate it every time we get out of the car, by pressing the button next to the rear vew mirror. Is there any other way of deactivating it permanently or setting it up so that it automatically turns off every time we get out of the car.

The alarm only goes off sporadically, and it seems to more in hot weather.

Many Thanks

Sam

TBH I'm not surprised that it costs that kind of money to fix, but a 2004 vehicle is just out of Warranty - I'd ask for your local Lexus dealership to contact Lexus GB and see if they can't get a Goodwill gesture/contribution at the very least. If they wont do it, go to another Dealer or even contact Lexus GB directly yourself.

It is pricey. All worked out for the best, i contacted Car Giant, who sold us the car only a few weeks ago, and they were fantastic and agreed straight away to pay for it.

For their generosity and helpfullness i am going to put in a shamless plug for Car Giant in London, who we have bought both our last cars, including the RX300, which has been a great place to buy a car, and for the Lexus garage on Edgeware Road, North London, who are very courteous, looked after my pregnant wife very well when she brought the car in the for both the service and to look at the alarm, and cleaned the car gratis while she waited. The service cost was also very reasonable.

Well I'm not sure they did it totally out of the goodness of their heart ;) But good of them to comply with their statutory duty to have it repaired FOC. I don't find the plug shameful, it recognises their good work and deserves a mention. Quite a few people who I know have bought from C/G have always reported back good things about 'em. Glad you got it sorted.
