Rs200 Auto Shift Lock Button

Finally got my RS200! What a car, like driving silk. I have sussed all the gadgets and even learnt japanese so I could programme the computer (nerdy i know..), however I have a little button marked shift lock at the top of my auto consul. I think it may be broke cos it don't do anything. My guess is that it should stop the manual mode from changing down gears on its own (which really annoys me).

Do any of the guys and gals out there that have an auto RS help me?

(I have had a whole rake of faults with this car that were all kindly sorted out by a local garage so here is a shortened list for info:

- wildly varying oil pressure gauge - oil sender switch

- rattling from the engine under heavy accelleration - cam belt tensioners

- shaking under heavy breaking - front or rear bushes worn

- heating up too quickly then overheating - kinked lower water hose)

Cheers,

Slug

little red button is to allow you to move the stick out of park without having the engine on and the brake pedal pressed...i.e. in case the car was broken and needed to be put in neutral to be towed on to a recovery truck

As for the car changing down by itself thats normal as you can only select the highest gear it will still use the lower gears to get up speed....

you will learn it's shift limits after awhile, then it's more predictable... :)

Aha, thanks. Wish I had known that when the car overheated and had to be recovered, would have saved some wear on the tyres!

Thanks again for the quick response.
