Mkii Gs 300 Drivers Door Trim & Dash Clocks

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks.

I don't post often mainly because I have trouble free motoring from my 1999 S reg MKII GS300. Lately I have noticed a couple of things that I'm looking for help with.

1 When driving in daylight my speedo and rev counter clocks light up as normal with the dimmer turned down very slightly ( I read somewhere on this site good idea to turn them down as this stops the needles burning out ). But at night with the dimmer in the same position the clocks are much duller almost as if the dimmer was turned nearly right down.

2 The rubber strip at the bottom of the driver's door on the outside is starting to come adrift from the door where it meets the rear door.

Any help with these problems would be much appreciated.

Hello

Both of my door rubbers are coming away from the front doors in the area that you describe, the rubber is actualy torn. As temporary fix I have used araldite on the inside of the doors. I will do a better job in the spring.

Regarding the panel lights, mine always dim when I drive it into my dark garage, they must be wired into the auto lights sensors either side of the front dashboard, the reason being is that you dont need the display lights as bright in the dark. Simply turn them brighter and they will be as bright as in the day but not full brightness thus saving the needles ( didnt know that fact )

Cheers
