Well, eventually after months of deliberating and comparing, took the plunge and got myself an Approved Used RX300SE-L. Having left a GS300 II

So I shall now be changing forums and joining you guys at the RX club

Scoured the web, and eventually found a superb model at Lexus Birmingham. Would like to say a big thank you to Ben Wilson there for excellent service.

Just getting used to the car and its kit, as a drive not too dissimiliar to my GS 300 but an even smoother with the air sus.

Looking forward to owning it !!

Buying an AUC should be safe as...well houses ;)

Keep an eye on the air suspension though - but it should be a really cracking, cosetted drive. Get used to all that space (and luxury) as its one fine machine. Welcome to the dark side ;)

Welcome. I keep toying with idea of changing my RX300 SEL but I am so happy with it can't justify the expense (although I do like Masseratti Quatroporte).

I am still discovering new stuff about my RX after 2 years. Last week found out you can open all the windows from the key fob, why you would want though I don't know!

I discovered the "all windows: today,it is a stunning car. A really smooth ride and so quiet, even at speed!! just getting used to the nav system and all it's features. I've been running with a Navman 520 with my GS, but this seems so much more responsive and accurate.

What is the latest version of the dvd, i have the 2002 v1. Is there a newer release? Also is there a pdf of the nav system manual available?

One more thing, does anyone have an aftermarket iPod system fitted? which one? fm or in line? how much should I expect to pay?

Hi we have just bought a RX 300 SE-L, pick up wed 4th june from lexus glasgow...dont know much about the car or the SE-L spec...was gutted to be trading in my porker for the 4 x 4, but looked around at the drug dealer X5 and the Mer van like ML, also looked at the tourag which i liked but my better half thought too big like the drug dealer fave....! and as she will be the main driver i thought best looking and size wise the best for her and our future baby. can any one please tell me what to expect from this car and what does and how good are the air susp and adaptive light etc...?

I too looked at other 4x4's and considered the GS Lexus to be the best looking. After looking at BMW, merc VW et al. Also I was so impressed with my I just wanted to keep up that level of luxury and quality. All of the others appeared to cheap inside.

With the air sus, you can expect a flawless ride and also so quiet, again very easy to drive. Tried using the tip-tronic selector and the gearing is still as smooth. I thought my GS was quiet until I tried my RX- so silent !! Going to be a joy to own!

I like the air suspension. I lower it on motorways, not sure if real or in my head but feels more stable. Also like raising it to at a bit of "pressence" when needed for eg. trying to get out of car park after match at Old Trafford.

Agree it is quiet but the RX400h is even quieter, but doesn't have the air supsension.

I've got a 400h and it's super smooth and quiet but doesn't have the air suspension as you say. I've never driven a 300....how different is the ride quality between the two?

IMO the 400h had a smoother gear change, but encountered torque steer at times. Ride height feels a little higher but OK. As the batteries are under the rear seats kids found it slightly harder to get in as it didn't lower after parking.

As for actual ride quality I think it is a personal subjective thing.

Not driven a 400 so can't say. The 300 is amazing, i find it such a joy to drive. If the 400 is better than the 300, then i had better steer clear of the showrooms for fear of eyes being bigger than wallet :-)

B.t.w, I think I have lost one of my keys (the black not grey) what do they cost to replace?

The MKII 300 is a supreme vehicle - greta handler and chocked full of kit at any spec (we have the poor spec. SE ;) ). if you wnat to upgrade then the 350 seems like a contender. My thoughts on the (horrid) 400h are well known on this forum...

Yes, Lexus showrooms are definitely dangerous places to visit.....
