Changing Tranni Oil

Hi All,

I have a MK2 GS300 and am looking to change the transmission oil. The last time I changed it I did this by draining the oil from underneath the gearbox sump, the traditional way, but it was quite a messy job.

I understand that it can be done by draining the oil through the oil cooler!!!

As anyone done this, and if so could you let me know how this is done and where the gearbox oil cooler is located???

As far as I know, to do a proper fluid change you have to do a combo of both. Removing the sump plug does not drain all of the oil, so you drain it first from the sump plug, refill with the same quantity that was drained. You then move on to the cooler pipe, turn the engine over and pump out fluid. re-top up with the amount removed, and keep repeating at the cooler until you start getting clean oil out of the cooler.

If you look right down at the botton of the radiator, you will see them joining into the radiator on the engine side of the rad.
