1999 Ls400 Tingle Through Accelerator Pedal

Recommended Posts

My LS400 has a tingle through the accelerator pedal, you can feel it just when resting your foot on it. I can remember another car I looked at before buying mine had a similar characteristic. Engine seems fine in terms of performance. Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Blimey... been getting some funny ones lately....

I think it could be

1, Worn engine mounts (quite common but don't know if this is a symptom)

2, Gearbox mounts ( " " " " )

3, incorrectly routed accelerator cable, or fallen from a support and resting on engine.

4, Engine misfiring at idle

5, Plugs or plug leads

The list goes on and on... with something like this you have to have a good look around and see what has changed, that’s why it’s a good idea to have a good look under the bonnet when you buy a car to be able to see if anything moves or falls off.

Good Luck, let us know how you get on

Pete

Hello all.

I too, have this same lightweight vibration through the throttle pedal.

My car is a 2000 with 140000 miles on the clock.

It only seems to occur at very low revs ie. when pulling away from a standing start and it seems to be more often than not when the engine and gearbox are cold.

I haven't had a chance to have a good look under the car yet to see if anything is loose but nothing in the engine bay seems to be wrong.

If I find the problem I will let you know.

Redsteve.
