Engine Oil For Is220d

Recommended Posts

Hello Gents,

Which engine oil do you recommend for the IS220d ? I used the mobile 0-40W (synthetic),is there anything more appropriate?

Another question...have you ever notice your IS220d to consume approximately 0.6litres of oil every 1000 miles? Is that within the tolerance?

Thank you

the hand book states 5w30 and that can be mineral or synthetic, from new the car will have mineral so top up with that if you are pre first service.it's the dealers that put the synthetic in because they make more margin from us.as for consumption,my car has never needed topping up in 44k but consumption can vary a lot.

Sorry Lion, can't advise on type of oil but consumption of 0.6 litre/ 1000 miles sounds a hell of a lot to me, that's 6 litres every 10,000 miles!

With regard to dgman's car, what a lucky man, it's a supercar!

I've had loads of diesels and everyone has used oil, I must be very unlucky. Roughly speaking, 1 to 1.5 litres every 10,000 miles up to 50,000 miles, with a slight increase in consumption as the mileage has increased.
