I've just had my factory subwoofer refurbished - the foam rubber outer suspension had perished with age (as they all do), and substituting with a non-OEM driver would have been too much hassle due to the offset mouting lugs which are an integral part of the bsaket. (Yes, I know it can be done, but.....)

So, for the meagre(ish) sum of £72 including return post, I have a bass unit which is every bit as good (or better) than new - now with a fabric surround!

You'll find the contact details on the Web.

:D

£72......for the old one to be refurbished? As much as I like original replacements, surley a modern replacement would be the better option. Mine failed in the same way around 1-year ago and an Infinity 8" unit (With impedance correction) was fitted....for under £50. Bass performance is so much better than the old one as the fs is much lower than the original paper coned one. Saying that, well done for keeping it original! ;)

speaking of sub woofers....does anyone know if the subwoofers were upgraded for the mkIII? The bass is much deeper than on my old '93 Ls.

?? Dunno, but sound is a funny thing.

A new mp3 or i-pod can improve quality, a different lead can aswell.

I noticed after buying several tape adapters for the mk2, some were much louder than others, and typically the older ones you cant get anymore were the best. Had a panasonic one which was good, the new tesco brand ones are quiet.

I think they did change systems soon after the k reg tho, i've seen people post different makes of stereo, but they are all top quality standard systems in Lexus.

Bet you dont have tape adaptors in the newer models, it'll be a jack input which again is good.

I believe mine is a panasonic and it still sounds superb after 18 years, and im sure i play my music louder and with fatter beats than the original owners
