Tyre Pressure Warning Light On Gs300

I have a GS300 which is now out of warranty. One of the valves has broken as a result of the metal cap becomming corroded and is going to cost me something between £100 and £200 to replace.

Lexus have suggested i put an ordinary valve in which i am quite happy to do.

However when i asked them to confirm they would deacivate the pressure warning light they said they cannot do this for safety reasons. I asked what "safety reasons"? If there is no pressure sensitive valve present then the warning is not performing any useful function but as yet they wont co-operate. The impression i am left with is that they "wont do it" rather than they "cant do it".

Does anyone know if this feature can be deactivated or whether it requires access to Lexus diagnostic equipement?
