Engine Fitted Problems

A friend of mine has an IS200 00-01

engine blew and fitted 2nd hand engine from an auto

car is driving just very badly now

any idea what the problem could be

Need more details...

Is the engine management light on? If so, get it plugged into a diagnostic reader. That's where I would start.

no warning lights on

still drives but just like a pig!!

Would you have to recode car/ carry out basic settings after

putting an auto engine into a manual.

Or should it make a difference

Was thinking of buying it off him and breaking it

auto and manual have different ECU`s.

Whitch parts did he swap? engine, gearbox and ECU? engine only, or engine and ECU?

the thing is, if he is using new engine WITH manual gearbox. myb ECU cannot understand why car is in PARK and still moving.

hope you get the idea.
