Fake Remote, Possible?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 IS200 Sports. I had a fully functioning master key, but I lost it. My spare key seems to be a master key too, as the security light stops flashing as soon as I put in my key, but I am not entirely sure.

However, after trying all the programming proceedures I can find, I just couldn't program in the remote. Then I called a auto-locksmith. He failed too. I was told by the auto-lock smith that the remote was a modified toyota remote rather than specific for Lexus. Is that possible? As it looks just like all other remotes I see on eBay after taking it apart.

So, really, the questions are 1) how I can tell if my key is a master key. 2)Is it likely that I will be able to get a key from eBay and it will work?

Many thanks

Terry

blah if it turns of the blinker immediately it should be the chip and should be able to start the car if it doesn't then you'll have to redo the pedal-dance to get the key registered properly that's it... unless the key doesn't turn the ignition because then the key has the wrong profile.

in that case prepare to get a set of keys from a scrappy including the ignition barrel.

That should sort your problem after a pedal-dance to register the keys( or in your case after you placed the working remote in one of the new keys)

ps it won't be cheap but it will beat the price of the dealer ;) (estimate 200 to 300 pounds)
