Purchased a set of new front shocks for my IS200 Sport (53 model). Local garage has quoted me £75+VAT per side to fit (£180 in total).

Does this seem like a fair price? Sounds expensive to me but I'm not a mechanic!

A bit pricey but not extortionate. Their charging you labour at £75 per hour. 2 hours to fit 2 shock absorbers. Cheaper than Lexus, they charge £110 per hour on average.

My local garage that I trust charge £60 per hour, £50 per hour if you buy the part from them.

Watch for the hidden costs as well, some garages will charge you up to £20 for grease etc and mark it as "sundries" on your bill. And a disposal charge for the old parts. One garage charged me £25 once to get rid of an oil filter, oil and and ehaust pipe. Lexus don't charge for these hidden costs, not in my experience anyway.
