Noisy Turbo

Hi chaps. Can anyone tell me how noisy the turbo should be on my Lexus?

I have ad it for 18 months now, it has done just over 80,000 miles and is a 56 plate sport model.

The turbo has always made a whooshing noise which you can hear in the cabin, but when I had a driveshaft replaced earlier this year at an independent garage, the chap who took it for a test drive put a note on the receipt saying to investigate for a possible split hose.

Should you be able to hear the turbo spool up and compress in the cabin?

Not heard or drove another to compare it to.

Thanks.

In my two years of owning a 220d (Std not a Sport variant) I can honestly say that I never heard the turbo on any occasion.

Couldn't be a bearing could it? Mind you if you have heard it for more than 18 months that would seem doubtful..it would surely have disintegrated/seized by now.
