Ls430 Extremely Low Speed Clunk

Recommended Posts

When reversing out of my drive way and doing a sharp turn to the left I get this odd clunk. Same with turning into a parking spot at low speed, again it clunks, its quite an audible clunk.

Not a drop link type of clunk, more of a steering rack clunk. And it's really a one off clunk.

Tyres are all fine and the correct size.

No other nosies at any speed, no noises with aggressive turns at high speed or gentle turns.

Very strange. Are there steering rack bushes or any common issue I should be aware of.

It has 83k on it.

I did spot this in my research on the internet

Gonna get this car up in the air and get a pry bar on it!

My mk3 had a clunk under similar conditions and my mechanic found a big bolt on a cross member thingy (technical term) under the engine area needed torquing up. The noise has gone now need to replace wishbones next.
