Late 2003 Lexus Rx300 Power Boot Not Working

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I just bought a second hand 2003 RX300 and the power boot is not working. I've tried it with all the key fobs, the button inside the boot and the button inside the glove box is in the right position. I've done a lot of Google searching and found people saying that you should try manually opening and closing it, that doesn't work either, I recently found a few links to people saying that it wont open if the power windows are locked or if the passenger door is not open, I've not tried these yet.

Is there a specific fuse for the power boot and if so where is it? I've located the fuse box inside bay, however the manual shows another fuse box that I'm either blind to see or I can't find it?

Before I take it into Lexus does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Having looked at the diagram I cannot see a specific fuse for the tailgate release solenoid/motor as it appears to be supplied from the same source as the other doors and as these are working the supply should be present.

The solenoid/motor unit is a listed part so may be the cause of the problem.

I don't know if it is the same with the RX but on other Lexus models the button needs to be pressed and held for a second or two but if the manual release is also not working it points to the motor/wiring.

This may help.

Hi, thanks for replying. Do you perhaps have the part number for the solenoid/motor unit so I can look it up to see what kind of damage I'm facing?

FYI, the boot does manually open and close no problems at all.
