Hello All

I Recently changed my horrid 07 is220d se for a 06 is250 sport. and I absolutely love the car, but for the first time in 10 years and over 150,000 combined since owning a Lexus of one type or another something has broken. on Sunday i went to the rear of the car and open the boot as usual, put the shopping in it and drive home. as you do. When i tried to open the boot again it wouldn't open, pushed the button under to boot lid, nothing, pushed to button on the key fob, nothing, pushed the button insdie the car, still nothing. it can only be opened with the emergency key into the key hole on the boot.

I've checked the manual and i don't see a specific fuse for the power boot release,

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not certain about this but memory tells me there is a switch in the glovebox which stops the boot from being opened. Could you have inadvertently knocked it?

If you have a valet park your car you can lock the boot and glovebox for security.

That's what I thought but the valet would have the keys though? I suppose you take the physical key off the remote?

No you give the valet the valet key. Which starts the car and locks/unlocks the doors but you can't open the boot or glovebox with the valet key. I'm guessing you don't have a valet key for yours? I didn't have one on my IS200 (must've got lost by a previous owner) but I got one with my IS300. It has just lock/unlock buttons on it and is grey not black.

I no longer have an '06 IS250 but, if my memory after a goodly number of Boxing Day libations is still intact, isn't the procedure to flip the little switch in the glove box and then lock the glove box using the metal key that you remove from the electronic key fob? Then you keep this key and give the valet the electronic key fob - he/she has all the access to the car they need except cannot get into the glove box (or boot) as the metal key is required for this. If my memory is at fault, blame it on a lack of resistance to seasonal temptation!

Spot on Bratman - the libations didn't have that much of an effect ...

I'll drink to that!

I've just checked with my 2013 IS250 and the procedure hasn't changed although it is a bit fiddly to get the metal key into the glove box lock. It also took me some time to find out how to remove the metal key from the electronic fob as the design has changed somewhat.
