  1. Just updated my 2009 GS300SE to a GS300h, has anyone managed to get the 300h to door lock when you take the car out of park. My 300SE was set up to do this but I have been back to the main dealer today and apparently the doors cannot be programmed to auto lock with the gear stick or speed related, however there are plenty of settings in the menus regarding unlocking when P is selected. Any information would be very much appreciated.
  2. Well I got the GS Friday and have done about 300 miles over the weekend. Stunning car to drive and a fuel return of 32mpg. Will post some pcs soon on this black beastie. Very impressed with the car just got to learn what everything does and being a noerth eatener by origin need to get the voice commands right, can't make my mind up is it my accent or the car thats a bit thick.
  3. Thanks for the feedback on the GS. I have ordered a GS300SE with 18" wheels and boot spoiler. The car is in Black with Ivory trim should be picking thsi up on October first. Think I got a good deal, boot liner, Supaguard, full tank and a set of rubber floor mats to try and save the carpets, just under £32k
  4. The GS300 Is a great car. Is it the Mk3 you're looking for? I have owned my car a few months and there are a few things to look for. Make sure that the recall work has been done. The steering rack and rear brake callipers need to change. Also it is now transpiring that on early Mk3 GS models the ECU can throw up warning messages. Make sure that this has been changed under warranty. The cars affected are 2005 to late 2006. This is a £3k bill for the repair. Apart from the above the car is wonderful. It's a super smooth drive with a beautiful gearbox, returns good MPG and is a very cool car. It is one of those rare things with me that after 7 months of ownership I still look forward to getting in it and drive. It has lots of gadgets too and all very useful. Reliability is of course fantastic. I test drove the IS250 but to compare the two is pointless. Take a GS out for a test drive and you will be hooked. You will not see many GS's on the road unlike BMW or Merc which makes this quite an exclusive car. People will comment about your car too, more than any other main stream marque, this car turns heads. Put on some private plates as because of the quality paint and interior quality people will struggle to guess the age. Test drive and see for yourself! :D Ditto ... I could not have put it better myself and I completely agree with everypoint. Totally superior on the road too B) This will ba a new one on a 59 plate, just arranged to have a demo car from tonight till Sunday.
  5. I am looking at replacing my trust worthy Rx300 which is now six and a bit years old. I no longer require this size of vehicle and was considering an IS250SE-L or the other car is The GS300 with all the nice boys toys on board. I would like honest opinions of the GS300 please. Have already ordered an IS220d SE-I for my wife, to replace her five anad a half year old IS200 with just under 24k on the clock, we should get delivery in about four weeks
  6. Get the car to an air con specialist and get it dis infected, bacteria in unit causes awful smells.
  7. I use Lexus insurance Fifty year old business use and 20k per annum, wife as named 2nd driver both no accidents I have 3 points speeding car kept on driveway. based in north Manchester this includes, typical Lexus, every extra you can think of. £591.00 on renewal
  8. Can anyone tell me if the Mk2 rear light clear covers are seperate items from the light clusters or are they one piece items.
  9. Same as GlynnB no word or contact from Lexus at all getting totally fed up with the whole Lexus experience. I thought they meant it would be good.
  10. Car goes in on Monday for the clunking let you know what happens.
  11. Hi Tony, the clunking you experienced, was this at very low speed after you'd taken your foot off the accelerator? I've experienced the same but was told by a friend that this is the torque convertor disengaging but it's quite a clunk and therefore surprised it's meant to be normal? br Damian Hi Damian the clunk I get happens about 30mph ish upto 40 ish when in traffic and feathering the accelerator on and off to keep the speed the clunk appears as though the car is taking up slack in the drive train. If you put the car into any gear other than 4th or 5th the problem is not apparent, well its not on my car. The dealer has a bulletin from Lexus describing this problem to perfection. They say it may be caused by bushings on the rear drive prop shaft or the diff itself. Dealer has the go ahead to do the fix but has not got the parts in to stock as yet. By the way the 18000 miles on the car are 6000 in the first two years and another 12000 since I purchased in July 2005. Tony
  12. Problems have most cetainly not dried up on may 03 Mk2 they are getting worse by the week. Mileage just over 18000 Love the car but it seems to be one minor fault after another. Aggressive gear change lurching very apparent my dealer have apparently sent a report to Lexus Clunking from the transmission (dealer got go ahead to do repairs to bushings and rear diff) Wheel wobble new wheels fitted (due to corrosion) now got wheel balance issue at above 75mph I know its not UK legal but you have to keep with the flow on motorways Poor brakes 1st thing in a morning dealer eventually replaced servo and master cylinder (4 visits to cure problem) This is the poorest quality of car I have owned, over the years I have had cars that just ran between services without problem or niggles that every time I get into the car I wonder what is going to appear today, this is not the way a car of this supposed quality should be. We also have a 53 plate IS200 Mileage 9500 To date wheels replaced due to corrosion N/S headlight washer unit replaced (kept sticking in up position) Rear shocker replaced Looking at this it's also pretty poor for a two year old motor with very low mileage.
  13. Mine has just had a new master cylinder and servo fitted earlier this month. First thing on a morning the brake pedal was like concrete when pressed and the brakes had very little effect in trying to stop the car. After a couple of uses it was a though the braking system woke up and worked ok again until the car was left over night. Once again my brakes are superb and Lexus Stockport service and attention superb.
  14. Mine does exactly this when stationary with foot on brake pedal, It seems to occur when something like the aircon compessor kicks in or out and the engine management adjusts the idle speed slightly. This may cause a difference in vacuum pressure in the servo for the brakes giving this drop feeling. Having said this the brakes are superb and I have never noticed the problem unless car is stationary. Tony
  15. Drove up the A!/M! past Wetherby over the holiday weekend thats a new road that just does not exist on sat nav yet. The only problem with a dvd based system is the lack of downloadable updates.
  16. Well done Michael & Lexus I will forward any details you require for Lexus GB to resolve this problem, just let me know what they are and where to send them, By the way Alex I really do not think you have experienced this lurching in your car yet, I think we all know what a normal gear change feels like this is not a normal function of a car or ECU Tony
  17. Damien well said. I drive in excess of thirty thousand miles a year and do know how to drive and adapt to cars and situations.
  18. Got a phone call last week from Lexus, asking the new customer type questions regarding satisfaction with the dealer the service given the this that and everything else. I mentioned to the person from Lexus about the dangers on the problem I have experienced with the sudden and very rapid acceleration experienced at low speeds, I also told him that my dealer had had a look at the ECU and it was all correct and this is how the car performs, this was not a satisfactory resolve to me, he said he would pass the comments on to the dealer I purchased the car from. Another point that I have just realised, all the automatics I have had in the past have had a kick down feature that if this type of acceleration was required whack the throttle to the floor and you got the power virtually instantly. I have noticed that the RX does not appear to have this feature it seems to make assumptions that because my foot goes down I must want to accelerate as quickly as possible, this is not the case but would like to feel some nice progressive power rather than a howl from the engine a snarl from me and a punch in the back and one day a smack up the rear for some poor unsuspecting punter sat in front of me when this happens. One final question has any one else noticed that the implementation speed seems to increase on this fault as the car is driven for longer periods ie lurching occurs at anything less than 20mph rather that less than 12.
  19. Very magic it's invisible. Could you please forward this number so I can start to lean on Lexus in Stockport a little more Thanks Tony
  20. Just purchased one from Lexus Stockport on 8 July £119.72 plus vat It will save the bumper but what a rip off price for a piece of plastic
  21. Hi all Sorry I could not get to Southampton, I do hope LGB get this problem resolved, I have had this car coming up for three weeks and think other than this dangerous irritation the vehicle is superb lets hope it can be resolved so every one is 100% happy with their Rx's. Tony
  22. Michael Thanks for the invitation to Lexus in Southampton I'm afraid it's a little far from Manchester. I will be very interested in the outcome of this meeting Tony
  23. Sorry made a mistake on this one the setting is in the bluetooth kit not the phone, just spent an hour looking for the setting on the phone I do apologise for this error. Tony
  24. I use the V3 with a third party blue tooth unit and this was dropping calls mid conversation. The V3 uses voice commands one of which is the disconnect command if enabled, disable this feature on the phone, I did no problem since Tony
