  1. Neither do I... actually mine self-cancel BEFORE the roundabout (well.. as I'm entering it really...) I don't find this too much of a problem as every single car I've ever owned self-cancelled at weird times on roundabouts. It does, but it's a 'fixed' ETA based on a pre-determined average speed which you program into the options of the nav box. It's certainly not a dynamic auto-calculating ETA taking into account your actual average speed and traffic conditions. Seems to me that this wouldn't have been too difficult to calculate though, so why they didn't do it (I think BMW and a few others do this) I have no idea. I have actually found this quite useful... if you hold down the lock button they close as well :) Especially useful on the hot days we've been having where the car has been sitting in the sun for two hours and you want to get some air circulating in it before you get in. Though I can't see how this feature would be a problem.. the vehicle beeps (and rather loudly) telling you that it's opening or closing the windows and sunroof anyway. Agreed on both points.. I would still like to see the ICE audio integrated into the Levinson as well though...
  2. mine is my own web site (in sig) L.
  3. You most certainly can.. and I've seen it happen on a few occasions. It is even more possible on forums which are moderated (which these ones are to a certain extent) since it excludes the argument of being an unmoderated forum. This, under some circumstances, can point a certain amount of responsibility to the moderators, even if they have nothing to do with the topic in question. In one case, I witnessed a libel complaint on an "unmoderated" forum, and it was upheld that the admins/webmasters of the forum held some responsibility because the forums were CAPABLE of being moderated. Since these forums are publicly visible (i.e. don't necessarily have to be a member to VIEW them), then these are considerations which need to be taken into account as well. Leland
  4. keith bowler ?? Bazza (and others): the only person who could really name anyone in this kind of thread is LW himself... any third party naming (even in jest) could be misconstrued as libel, and I have seen other forums and their members raked over the coals for 3rd party naming of names in similar situations. If LW choses not to name and shame in public, that's his perrogative (though I must admit, it would be entertaining if he did... especially entertaining reading any responses from the individual concerned, in this instance) -- it is, however, not on for others to attempt to publicly "fill in the blanks" to name the alleged culprit based on hearsay and innuendo... only LW can do that really. If LW names the individual publicly, that's fine. Any third party attempting to name, even based on cryptic clues, hearsay, or innuendo runs the risk of implicating an innocent party (as has already been demonstrated here). Leland
  5. Definitely not on... the exchange of cash for goods or services is considered to be a contract. If the cash is paid and the goods not provided, that is theft. If the goods are provided and no cash is paid, that too is theft. Such behaviour brings disrepute to the LOC and its membership, in my opinion, and aside from being named+shamed, Fargo'ed and Scarface'd, the individual should also be duly removed from LOC membership and barred from returning. Just my 0.02 Euros. Leland
  6. You give them too much credit... it's taken them this long (a couple of decades at least) to come up with an operating system which is somewhat usable and performs reasonably well... never mind the fact that it looks a lot like OSX for Macintosh (Windows Vista, I'm referring to... which I'm running on two machines as part of a beta test...) This *beta* version of Windows is definitely more stable and much faster than the "proven" previous windows releases with upteen service packs... :duh: Just a few minor niggles at the moment ;) then again.. it is a beta...
