  1. Last friday I took my IS to the carwash for the first time. They do an excellent job (as they use no brushes, triple foam, etc... the works). There is only one problem: the bugs are not completely removed from the bonnet. There are still "vague" marks left on it (even though they use anti-insect spray before washing the car... Maybe it's not powerful enough). I use some kind of product that easily removes the bugs from the front window (no "scrubbing" whatsoever needed, just apply it, immediately wipe it off, and the bug marks are gone). This product is intended for usage with windows. Question is: could I use the same product on the bonnet you think? Just to remove those marks...
  2. My impression after 7000km in 3 weeks :-) in my IS220D SE MM Most of my remarks are issues which already appeared on this forum. - the diesel engine : you have to get used to it. I find the 1st and 2nd gear too short. You can't really accelerate. 3rd (slightly short), 4th, 5th are perfect for me. But then i'm used to driving petrol, so I'm conquering two things at the same time: the diesel and the lexus-specific diesel :-) - the "lag" in 2nd gear -> can be very dangerous when you really need to have some instant power available... - vibrating rear-view mirror (caused by both vibrations in the ride and radio) - not being able to operate the nav, phone, dvd, etc while driving (very very annoying!). But the 7000km in 3 weeks proves that I love driving the car!
  3. Yesterday, I was in front of a Burger King; I tried this feature and it showed me a list of about 10 McDo restaurants in the wide area... that was pretty funny. I think it also depends on who is willing to pay for being added as a reference.
  4. When picking up my IS220 last friday, my dealer warned me to better not use Total diesel as they've had 2 220's back in the garage due to problems with Total diesel. Had something to do with the extra thingie that re-injects the exhausted air into the compressor that results in "cleaner" air (I am not an expert, and cannot explain it better than this, as English is not my native language). It causes problems when using Total. I always use Texaco as I get my invoices from my local station, so I wouldn't know if the above is correct or not.
  5. Well, to counter the negative news 'bout this topic a litte: my delivery date was respected! They said back in february that delivery date was end of june. Wednesday, it arrived at the dealer's. Now I need a little more patience for the paperwork (it's a leasing car), so I will probably be picking it up somewhere next week (mon-tue)... Well, to relax my nerves a little, I'll be crashing at the rock werchter (www.rockwerchter.be) festival this weekend, so doesn't bother me!!! Cheers.
  6. age 21 - Toyota Starlet (my little mosquito) 26 - Saab 9-3 32 - Lexus IS220 (ordered feb'06, delivery in 2 weeks!)
  7. Congratulations! But... how come I have to wait until (beginning of) July, having it ordered one month ago? Is it the MM pack that has the long waiting line? Anyhow, having to wait for your car is bad for your nerves :-)
  8. So if you decide to buy a bmw, you must be thinking "i want a car that's faster than yours" ROFL
  9. Jamboo, So is it so that - 1st and 2nd being a bit sticky - it is a pain to drive in stop-and-start traffic? Thx...
  10. My car is a company owned car. My own company, that is. So although it's a CO car, I DO pay for it myself. But IMHO, that doesn't make any difference. A car is a product. Either a company or a person pays for it, and it has to be without failure. The rest is just a matter of who has to express their complaints: the driver or the company fleet responsable.
  11. USB would be the perfect solution indeed. That way, the iPod would get its power through the usb connection, so no need for an adapter. Nice and clean solution.
  12. You are right, Jamboo. A lot of reviews are written under "commercial stress" (BMW trying to temper the Lexus enthousiasm of people; and it seems to work here and there because some people start having doubts). I've noticed that sometimes one review says just the opposite of a different review. Some people complain about the "plastic" interioir parts. What do they want? Wooden buttons? Globally, I think the interior and dash is one of the nicest I've seen lately (in that category). I have had a test drive with the IS220 and I knew immediately I wanted this car. My Saab 9-3 needs replacement, has almost 200.000 km. So if anyone is in doubt: test drive it yourself, compare, take your time. The car will proove itself. And heck, I don't mind if this car isn't being bought excessively, because that way it stays something - in a way - like a seldom gem on the road...
  13. Congratulations, the same colour as the one I ordered :-) No leather though, not particularly keen on leather, chose the light grey seats, MM pack and 17" alloys. Happy cruisin'
  14. I have an operational leasing (= leasing + maintenance) for a IS220d Business, with extra's: 17" wheels, MM pack. I can lease it for 736 euros excl VAT. Incl VAT that comes to a 890,65 euros. Pretty good deal compared to other leasing companies (the closest was 60 euros excl VAT more expensive); the one i chose was Excelease, as suggested by the dealer. They only do Toyota/Lexus in coöperation with Toyota so i guess they can go this low because they know their cars. Minor problem though: it's due to arrive end of June. Guess I'll be driving my 2001 Saab 9-3 for a couple of months longer. Liked this car also (hesitated for the 9-3 Sport Sedan), but had some problems with the interior that are simply unacceptable. The dealer told me they have a lot of Saab drivers who are switching to Lexus. Hope this was helpful.
  15. Ordered my IS220d last week... delivery June, 28th *aaaaarghhhh*
