  1. " It is not the CVT that makes the sound it is silent"

What about  when you are using the cruise control and you want to increase your speed as the vehicle in front has accelerated?  When you push the CC lever up the engine races as if you had floored the accelerator and the noise increases with it, no way is this silent. IMHO.

  2. Test drove a Tesla S 75 yesterday, very impressive but not at £56,000.  Will wait and see if the Model 3 will stay at $ 35,000 And what the exchange rate will be in 2018 when they are due in this country.  Also tested a BMW 330e last month, and this is what I wish the IS350h would be like. Plug in with about 35 miles range, a 7 speed box, not CVT, so smooth to drive, quiet I'd have one except my wife wants a 2017 FSport IS, so,we will see....

  3. I use CC all the time, my wife will not. I don't like the way the engine revs so hard when you want to increase your speed using the CC lever.  I had a test drive of a BMW 330e and their CC is brilliant.  There is a little lever on the steering wheel and with a flick up or down you can change your speed and see the readout on the dash.  Also the auto box is so smooth and quiet.  However at £40,000 for a car with the same speck as an IS 330h, it's a lot of money.

  4. Yes i know the photo is sideways, but i can't see how to rotate it!

Anyway yes i am, on my fourth drivers leather seat cover and second passenger one.  They have all worn in the same place, even the load IS300h with only 2000 miles on the clock was starting to show signs of wear.  Lexus Wolverhampton change them no problem as the car is still under warranty, but surely this is an issue that Lexus should be addressing.

  5. Has anyone found out if it's possible to add extra speed cameras to the ones on the navigation screen. I know it's Tomtom based but i cannot find where they are hidden on the memory card.

The reason I ask is that i get free updates of cameras from Pocket GPS and i have to have a Garmin on the dash to watch for cameras as the built-in ones are so out of date.

  6. To get back to the question CT200h or IS300h, depends if you want a hatch-back or a saloon.. When our IS250 Sport was in for service we were loaned a CT200h. I had never driven an automatic before but found it so easy. Unfortunatley it rode badly on the 17" wheels, one section of the M54 was like driving over sleeping policemen. I have seen comments that the CT is better on 16" wheels. Anyway we (my wife and I) also tried the Toyota Prius and Toyota Yaris hybrids as i think they all have the same engine and drivetrain. All were on 17" wheels and all drove very hard. However i prefered the Prius apart from the poor rear view and that big whole under the centre consul. My wife like the Yaris. All would have done us but Lexus had the offer of the IS300h Luxury with satnav etc and we were sold. I wouild say that the ride is "refined". We even got folding rear seats which the 250Sport didn't have. Unfortunatly its 4" wider than the 250 Sport and so has to sit on the drive. Now I am sold on the CVT gear box and it may not be as fast as a BMW but it's NOT a BMW and at 47mpg i'm not compaining.

So you have to decide catch or saloon?

Oh yes as for the lack of run-flat, our old 250 Sport never had a puncture in 7 years and the IS200SE before never one in 6 years.

  7. After our dissapointing visit to Stoke, it was so refreshing to have great service for the delivery of our new IS300h yesterday. A phone call on Sunday to confirm the time from Bob the Sales Manager. Met by Jason who organised the coffee and took us into the hand-over room for all the paperwork and then into the car to set up the essentials. Apart from the weather we cannot fault the service. ( I did try to sell the Owners Club but no luck sofar.)

  8. My wife and i visited Lexus Stoke on Sunday after my wife had had to complain to the sales manager Gareth that no one had returned my calls about a test drive of an IS300h Luxury. Well we arrived on time but Gareth didn't, he came 25 mins late and never even spoke to us. We saw Jean Luc and he let us have a test drive of the IS300.

Great so far, we liked it and wanted a Mesa Red with Black interior just like we have now.

No Jen Luc had a white one and wanted to know why we didn't want to buy it. My wife said she didn't like White and we would prefer Red, quite simple we thought.

Oh no he went on and on about the White car and couldn't understand why we didn't want to buy. He asked us several times what he had to do to make us drive it away there and then. I said "paint it Red"!

He worked out the trade in on our then he took money of for things like allloy dents and paint chips, I might as well have given it away.

We had had enough and wanted to go but he insisted on taking us to see the White IS and still badgered us about buying it.

This is totally unacceptable behaviour from a Lexus employee.

    PS

We went back to Lexus Wolverhampton Monday, were greeted by the sales manager and his staff and were shown 3 cars he had as part of the free Satnav deal. There was no pressure or intimidation. Sorry no Reds until September so we ordered a Sonic Titanium which is not far off the Platinum Ice we had on our first IS200. The trade-in offer was much more than that from Stoke and nothing was taken off for the condition of our vehicle.

Perhaps Jean Luc should visit Wolverhampton and see how customers should be treated.
