  1. Happy birthday! Hope it's a good day!

Thanks very much. Just celebrated today by ordering my new road fund licence for £400 (ouch!) so I'm off to the pub tonight. Let us know whenever you are coming over to Telford and we will have a meeting. The local Japanese car owners club has monthly meetings at Ironbridge on a Sunday afternoon so there might be an opportunity for a visit.

  2. Our IS250 Sport has just had its first service (6,600 miles) and I would recommend that you definitely have a test drive of all the IS250 and IS220 models before you decide. It took us a good 6 months to decide on the Sport version. It wasn't availabile initially when the IS250 came out and we took the first IS250 back to the showroom after only an hour's test drive because we didn't like the handling of it. We tried the IS250 automatic, but preferred a manual gearbox. We settled on a Sport because of the lowered suspension, wide tyres and all the goodies that you get as standard. We wanted to buy a diesel because of the economy and eventually managed to get one from our local dealer in Wolverhampton for a complete day, but after the day of struggling to get in the right gear at roundabouts, stalling it from take-off, we decided that the petrol was the way to go. The ride is quite firm but holds the road well. We have had no problems with our gearbox and it seems the petrol version does not suffer from the same rattles as the diesel. Good luck in your choice.

  3. Every year the nice people at Lexus Wolverhampton collect the car, do the service and leave me a litre bottle of engine oil, 2 plastic gloves and a paper funnel. My IS200 was 6 years old when we swapped it and it never used a drop of oil. So i have 6 bottles of oil in the garage and tomorrow when the 250 is serviced i will probably get another. Does it have a shelf life?

  4. Went to a meeting of the SJCC ( Shropshire Japanese Car Club) on Sunday, in the snow, and the guys are keen to see more Lexus at there meets. The car looks a bit lonely amongst all the high performance cars. They were amazed at the sparkle of the Mesa Red paintwork on my car, so may have won some over to Lexus.

They are meeting at RAF Cosford this Saturday.

Sound a bit early for me, but Cosford Aerospace Museum is a great place to go, and its FREE!

  5. Have i missed this already but did no one see the governments proposal to allow motorists to pay to use the hard shoulder on selected motorways? They are going to call it the "Lexus Lane" as only rich people will be able to afford to pay the charges.

  6. OK Converse - first name would help - i have just sat and watched the DVD of the LSO. I did not rate either piece of music but i guess they were chosen more for their sonic performance throught the car system than to win votes. If you want to know what music to play in future try going along to any of the club meetings an see what music our members have in their cars. You could also try some of the popular classics i.e. Enigma Variatiuons. Planet Suite, Beehovens' 5th, as i would want to compare something i knew and how it sounds on my hi-fi. Try "Brothers in Arms" as a good tester or even the opening part of "Road to Hell" as they say rain is the hardest sound to reproduce.

I think the more popular the music the more interest it would bring.

And please bring the events to the other 90% of the country who don't live in London.!!

    Jim
