  1. Just driven to the Alps and back, no beeping as I presume that the mapping data is legally compliant with French law. Still can't see what all the fuss is with beeping, it's hardly loud although each to their own. As for sticking a Tom Tom on the windscreen, forget it, what a backward step. If you can't afford the Lexus nav then too bad, not that it's perfect of course.

I am awating the delivery of an IS300h with sat-nav on monday. In my IS250 Sport i use a Garmin sat-nav fitted to the air-vent with a Brodit unit. I use this because i get the speed camera data FREE every week from Pocket GPS World. As the sat-nav in the IS300h is on a mamory card, will i be able to add my POI's to the existing ones?

  2. Hi I need help as my IS250 has developed an anoying squeek from the passangers side of the dash. It sounds like it's beween the bulkhead and glovebox. I have read the thread about removing the satnav/cd player but was wondering if there is an easy way to get the air vent out to see if the noise is coming from that area?

A local garage have had a quick look but couldn't pin it down. I don't particularly want to have to pay Lexus to remove the whole dash.

  3. We had an IS200SE for six years and loved it, we changed to a manual IS250 Sport six years ago and don't regret it. The ONLY downside is £450 a year road tax. But that's just £2000 over the life of the car. We have driven both from the midlands to Orkney and I much prefer the IS250. 40plus MPG on a good run, 30MPG in the winter around town. We tried the auto IS250 but didn't like it. You can't really compare the toys on the two models, I'd be lost without the colour reversing camera!. The IS200 looks dated know IMHO, just put the two side by side and you'll see.

  4. Had an IS200SE for six years and there is no comparison between the two. I prefer the IS250 especially on a very long drive, more toys, in Mesa Red it looks the dogs.... The snow button actually works on the 250 as my wife found out this winter. Tried the deisel for a day but didn't like the gear box, first was too short, kept stalling it, the dealer even suggested pulling away in second, couln't slip through roundabouts in the wrong gear as with the 200. Yes road tax is a bummer, but you can have your say on May6th. The IS200 is looking a little dated IMHO.

Do try all varients, you are sure to find one you like.

  5. Don't worry, I ordered mine just before the 2007 budget when they announced the new tax brackets. Luckily the garage paid the new tax to put it on the road. The 250 Sport Auto was not available when we bought ours, but we did try two other 250 automatics and i found the same as with the IS200 that i always fealt in the wrong gear. Lucklily my wife agreed and we bought the manual. Its horse for courses, some like automatics, some don't. The engine will pull in most gears if you forget which one you are in. So just be greatful you are not getting stung £1000 tax to buy a new one. :crybaby:
