    Sc 430

Hi Dusi, I must have missed something here.....congrats on the new suspension/tyre bits.....but why do you all need them? Cheers, Buzz.
  2. Just a thought here......since your locations are not mentioned,I assume we are all in England and refering to UK gallons as opposed to US gallons. Since there's about 1.2 US gallons to 1UK gallon there would be a big difference in the mpg, with the guys over the pond getting less to the gallon. Buzz.
  3. Hi Broiler62, I guess from your post that you are prob in the States!I've got an RX300 in the UK and regularly tow a horse trailer with 1 or 2 horses in it....one is over 16 hands so is a heavy fellow. The car tows adequately I'd say,no sparkling performance but it copes fine....with the fuel consumption down to say,16mpg,from 22-23 mpg. We bought the car to have a reliable comfortable 4wd since we live "in the sticks" and to have a vehicle that can cope with towing when necessary. Hope this helps. Buzz. PS ourBrand new top spec Discovery towed much better the only downside was the leaking roof, the leaking diesel tank, the leaking oil filter, the failed air con,the 4 total breakdowns, not to mention the exploding engine at 20,000 miles!....stick with the RX.
  4. BL, Just did it again.Zeroed the trip meter, cold start, did 75 miles to work down the M40 between 70-80 mph result 30.1 mpg. Buzz.
  5. Hi BL, Just for info mine seems accurate.......up to or over 30mpg on a long gentle run,but usually around 22mpg. Maybe yours is due to very short journeys or low tyre pressures? Hope you find out why soon, rgds, Buzz.
  6. As an aside here...did anyone else have the tyre pressure light on recently due to the cold weather? I parked my SC430 for 3 days and drove off in -2 centigrade and the light only went out after 20 miles of motorway driving, when the tyres warmed up and the pressure increased. Cheers, Buzz.
  7. I bought a diesel powered hot water pressure washer from Karcher...via the internet and it only takes 10mins to do the car really well. The results are excellent and you dont even touch the car at all.Only difference is in the summer when I use a leather to dry them. Even so I only use it once a week or so to do both cars. Merry Xmas, Buzz.
  8. Well I've tried twice today to join Gold but your Paypals in the USA are not taking my money! First try the system is down,2nd go they wont accept my created password and tell me to phone the States for a solution! Help! Cheers, Buzz.
  9. Hi Loz, Yeah I read the review too, have an SC430 and cannot see why it gets the poor comments that it does. I,however am not interested in cornering on 2 wheels, driving down B roads like Colin McCrae, minimum 0-60 acc every time, but am interested in build quality(quoted as better than the SL!),reliability, longevity and believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There were plenty of people crawling all over the SC430 at the recent UK motorshow that I'd bet would'nt mind the keys put in their hands. As a parting thought,I looked at the new M3 Convertible too before I made my choice........ and that only rated 2 stars out of 5 as well in the same paper. Rgds, Buzz.
  10. Hi Nic, Glad to have put the record straight! Incidentally my Sat Nav has now totally died....just a blank screen, pity really cause its not what I expected from a "quality" vehicle.Nevertheless a new DVD reader unit is going in next week to fix it.(I hope). Cheers, Buzz.
  11. My sat-nav in my SC430 keeps resetting itself to the initial startup screen for the first few minutes of operation each day, after a very brief flash of "DVD".Then the system is perfect for the remainder of the trip. This happens maybe 6-7 times with a minute or so in between shut downs,so the million $ question is "has anyone else had this same problem?" My dealer is taking the car in for a few days to investigate, but says he's no knowledge of similar faults. Rgds, Buzz.
  12. Nic, I spent some time nervously reading the reviews for the SC 430 too. If you read any at all from the USA they rave, whereas in the UK they tend to comment on its poor ride qualities, handling etc, especially Clarkson who I recently watched on TV lavishing praise on the Citroen Berlingo!! The proof of the pudding is in the eating.I've owned the 911's,MGF's,Panthers,and similar and have traded my LS400 in for my 6 month old SC430.I love driving it,so does my wife. Its in the vein of a Grand Tourer not a track day racer.....and will probably outlive the competitors, which are few in this category. I've no complaints about the ride;its very smooth, powerful, and refined. If your new one for next year is an improvement you'll be well pleased.Especially since you'll count on one hand the number you'll see in a week. A plus point is also that it doesnt p**s people off with outragous air dams and aggressive styling,so you get to enjoy your car without tailgating boy-racers. You've made what I consider to be a mature choice, relax and enjoy....when it arrives! Regards, Buzz.
  13. Nice looking car Vertex, mine gets here shortly (with the same wheels as yours!), but what is the black dot/circle on the front bumper for?I'm getting the rear parking sensors....(for Mrs Buzz's benefit too) but I'm told they'll be colour coded. Cheers.
  14. Hi all.I've never posted anywhere before so I hope this works! Picking up my SC430 on Thurs this week in the UK....pre-owned but in good nick.If anyone wants to compare notes my e-mail is available...I gather there's been lots of discussion on the U.S. club website regarding tyres/wheels/ride etc so any tips gratefully received. How many owners are we up to now in the UK on this site then,4/5? Cheers for now.
