  1. That sounds promising, thanks Just heard back from Lexus Parts Direct and they have confirmed only the plastic/rubber mat is available for my car, so it's aftermarket or DIY.
  2. I may well go down this route if I can't find what I'm looking for, thanks Dav Sadly, they only seem to cover 450h models from 2016 onwards (mines a 2012), might drop them an email just in case.
  3. Will keep that in mind although I would need a rubber mat for the template in the first instance. Seems like a genuine Lexus item isn't on the cards, annoying that I can find aftermarket boot carpet mats for the earlier RX400h and would have gone for one of those in the absence of a Lexus item, if they were available for the 450h. The hard wearing shop entrance mat is another idea worth noting though, thanks.
  4. I had them on my GS430 and found them to be great on hot days.......but how often do we have them? It's a compromise but I've gained other things I didn't have in the GS such as DAB radio, swings and roundabouts😉
  5. Thanks Peter, yes I did see that one but it's rubber and I was looking for a carpeted version (if such a thing exists). For some reason I can't type anything in the search products box on their site, which is odd. Might contact Lexus customer services and ask the question but given the wealth of knowledge I thought a post here might yeild an answer.
  6. After months of searching I have finally found and purchased a 2012 RX450h Advance, a big thank you for everyones help and input. It has pretty much everything I wanted other than cooled seats but that seemed an SE-L option only and I didn't want Air Suspension or rather the worry of it!
  7. Does anyone know if Lexus offer a carpeted boot mat or over mat for a 2009-15 RX450h, I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find anything?
  8. Bingo! https://www.lexomans.com/manguide-654.html
  9. Now why didn't I think of that?! Thanks Bill, I'll get cracking on that gem
  10. Think I've got my head around the hybrid side of things as you say, it's well proven technology.
  11. Do all RX450h SEL-l and SE-l Premier models have air suspension, internet searches have not proved overly helpful?
  12. Morning John. Many thanks indeed, another helpful suggestion, will save their details as well.
  13. Ah right, thanks Colin. Never a big fan of third party warranties as they spend more time and money trying to wriggle out of honouring what you've paid for, and I've already set my mind on saving for future repairs
  14. @ Colin. Thank you for the kind words regarding my back, happened years ago so I'm used to it, but age is playing an ever increasing role in it's deterioration! Bill/Colin. Many thanks indeed for your replies, both informative and helpful. Typically, ones budget never seems to stretch far enough when looking for a new(er) car, ideally I'd like to find myself behind the wheel of a 2013-15 RX but with prices as they are right now it's just not realistic. I appreciate, aside from the hybrid side of things any car of the age I'm looking at will need all the usual checks but have taken onboard your comments which are more tools when viewing a potential purchase and also during ownership. I tend to be fussy and opt for low-ish mileage/properly serviced cars so don't worry on that score, my GS is 17 years old but has only covered 72k! In terms of warranties, I'm looking at best at 2-3 years cover by Lexus, my current GS is serviced by Lexus Bristol and so would the RX should I get one, so a few years peace of mind. Beyond that there's the extended warranty Bill mentioned........is that with Lexus as well? I think the hybrid part is an unknown for me hence my caution, I just need to understand the pros and cons in order to move forward, as Bill mentioned I'd like to get my self in the head space of not being overly concerned about it. Anyway, appreciate the input
  15. Sadly, due to health issues I need to go from two cars down to one which would leave me with my GS430. I love my GS and would be sad to part with it but I'm thinking of changing to a RX450h (2010-2013 models are within my price range) partly for practical reasons but mainly health (broke my back years ago and with my increasing years, it's not a happy bunny these days!). After much research and ideally wanting to stick with Lexus the RX450h Sel-l or Sel-l Premier ticks all the boxes. However, my big worry is the hybrid batteries, I've read they average a 15 year or so life span. Given the age of RX I'm looking at that could be a deal breaker, so my query is: Do Lexus sell a hybrid battery warranty? I was looking intially at an RX350 SE-l but the higher road tax (my GS just missed the higher bracket thankfully) and water ingress issues nudged me into uping my budget for the 450h. Would welcome your thoughts and input.
  16. Many thanks Herbie, much appreciated. Will be just a standard non-hybrid car if a jump start is required but learnt something new there regarding not using a hybrid for a jump starting.......every day is a school day🙂. Will research Yuasa batteries
  17. My trusty (12v) battery seems to have all but failed and never having replaced a battery on the GS before, rather than assume "it's just a battery replacement" always worth asking before diving in. In light of that, any issues or things to look out for when replacing the battery and is jump starting ok? Lastly, any recommendations on a top notch replacement?
  18. Everyone is different, I just love the near silence and smoothness of the V8. I can see how the delivery of power could catch you out if your more used to some sort of engine note. The Gentlemen's Super Saloon, that's not a bad analogy......if we can be classed as "gentlemen" of course😁. Having said all that, the V8 does sound nice when coupled with a more free-flowing exhaust😉.
  19. And expensive!........ Despite that I replaced the v-pipe/back boxes and went OEM on mine, the last thing I wanted was anything that would spoil the "waft-like silence"😉 .
  20. A warm welcome to the club John and of course to Lexus ownership. I hope your car gives you many happy and enjoyable miles.
  21. Many thanks for the kind words Len Nick Abraham, my local Chips Away man arrived as promised (always a good sign) Very pleasant and easy to deal with, so I'm going ahead with the boot lid and bumper repairs. Total including vat is £384. Don't have a date as yet but will update the thread when progress has been made.
  22. Update: I have contacted my local Chips Away chap and he's coming round to look at the car and work involved this afternoon, so watch this space. Very true Len, a moments lapse in concentration or an inconsiderate driver and damage done. As far as I'm aware it's the original paint on the boot lid, in fairness I'm a keen detailer so I try my best to keep it looking as decent as possible.
  23. Many thanks indeed Len. You're right, being self inflicted does make it feel a whole lot worse, especially when you realise it could have been easily avoided........as they say "every day is a school day"! I did contact Dent Master which is fairly local to me for a mobile repair, sent pictures and filled in the form. Unfortunately they wanted the car in the body shop for three days, in fairness I did ask them to also quote for a few light marks on the rear bumper as well. The total quote was £708.00. I'm fussy and my experience of leaving a car with body shops has not been great. I will investigate your suggestion of Chips Away and see what they come back with. Appreciate your input.
  24. Can any recommend a good, reliable dent/body repair company in the Thornbury/BS35 area? I was trying to get something down from the garage shelf above the GS and managed to pull down an old speaker onto the boot lid, to say I'm upset is an understatement. The damage is minor but has left two dings and the paint has been lost. I'm really fussy and would rather go with a recommended company. I would prefer local as I have mobility issues with my back.
