  1. similar to mine - I had mine fully refurbed and powder coated in anthracite by Wheel Repair Centre in Preston.
  2. yep mine are the 17" 5 spokes - best thing to do is get in touch with WRC and ask what he can do for you and get a price.
  3. I had my IS200 wheels refurbed by WRC (www.wheelrepair.co.uk) - in Preston off J29 M6. Ask them for a quote. I don't have the diamond cut lines anymore but I'm not bothered asI went for a full refurb due to corrosion and got a good price. BloodyGoodBloke had his IS200 wheels refurbed by Lexus at £80 a pop
  4. 31 yrs young and am an IBM System I and Systems Storage consutant for a UK Business Partner
  5. Only place I can recommend is Jerry (WRC) in Preston...
  6. I can usually manage 400 mile son a full tank- I susually use a full tank if I drive from Preston to Edinburgh and back - steady 75mph all the way.
  7. Nice one matey - where in Lancs are you and who sis you use to get the key done. I need a spare key as well.
  8. Got your text this morning when I turned my phone on Chris. What a muppet... when fitting tyres to an alloy wheel, they should use a softer guide on the equipment to prevent damaging the rim. I'd demand he pay for the required re-furb and give you the tyre for free - trust me he'll have got the tyre from a distributor for a lot less than that.
  9. I'll start a book on how long it takes you to kerb one... (unless you're going to say Fiona was driving it..)
  10. well one advantage of that colour is that the wheels still looked mighty fine after a trek upto Edinburgh and back over the weekend to work - motorways where a mess given the weather !
  11. I spent ages looking for one on all the breaker sites I could find.. they are like rocking horse poo ! I even tried the Lexus Stealerships local to me and they had no idea what I was talking about ! I ended up finding one on a breaker site - www.lexrex.net - in Australia. Sent a couple of emails and it was sorted. It's cost me £270 (as customs stung me for £27 charges then 'ParcelFarce' stung me for a further £13 for processing that !!). I can't fault the service from Zak @ Lexrex - it was in my hands in 10 days - and considering the deal was done over the Xmas/New Year period as well !
  12. Here's a couple of shots when it wasn't raining in Preston today and the sun was out.
  13. Well when I bought the IS in November last year, I said to the missus I'll keep this car standard - honest ! So far I've started to slip down the slippery slope as I've done the following : 1. K&N Filter 2. Refurbed and powder coated the alloys 3. Managed to track down and fit the much coveted higher up armrest I might have to cool my heels for a little while or the missus might notice... The next mods I may look into are : a. sorting out the headlights (one has condensation which isn;t going away) and remove the orange lense andhave a silvervision indicator bulb in its place. b. swapping all the bulbs to blue led's - I 'm not a fan of orange lighting - but it means doing all the parts - cluster, radio, climate controls, cig lighter and window switches....
  14. It depends on the turn around time you want. Jerry offers different levels of service - eg some people buy a set of wheels of ebay and ship them direct to him, he re-furbs then posts them out within an agreed time period, in some cases (like a local Dodge Viper last week) he'll pick the car up and do the wheels in 24 hrs. His 'record' for a complete wheels off - re-furb - drive out is 5.5 hrs. Price wise it depends also on the work involved - you're best contacting him for pricing but a complete powdercoat on my wheels would be about £250 for simple wheels ( I got all five done). He has an offer on at the moment so best contact him for current pricing. Split rims are a little more expensive due to the time it takes to take them apart. Last time I popped in for a brew he was allen keying a set of 19's back together which had about 30 allen bolts on each wheel ! B)--> QUOTE(T7RY B @ Jan 7 2007, 02:21 AM) ← My opinion and thats all it is, MY opinion. They looked better in the 1st. pic. Dark wheels with the silver centre cap and crappy looking wheel nuts just don't do it for me. Ist. pic to the last pic .The car looks better in the 1st. no problem with your opinion - but to be fiar the picture was taken inside a workshop under flourescent lighting.. not the best for flash photography. I would have gone outside but Noah was starting to build another ark in Preston on saturday. I'm going to get fresh wheelnuts asap to finish it off - and when Jerry his new supply of flush fit valves they're being fitted.
  15. if you can send him the wheels I can recommend Mysh at Wheel Repair Centre in Preston. See details of my refurb in the IS200 section.
  16. Chris - see my thread on my refurb... remember I was on holiday on friday.. well I was busy !! You can see them in the flesh next weekend (unless I come up to the office mid week). send me some pics - as I mentioned it to my mate when we were doing my wheels.
  17. It doesn't show it as well as it looks in the flesh in the pictures but they look good with the colour combination of dark grey and silver - especially after painting up the calipers in silver. If I'd had more time I'd have got him to also powder coat the brake dust shields in silver as well.. hmm maybe another weekend when I get a pass out off the missus.... Still, they passed the ultimate test and got the nod of approval from 'she who must be obeyed' ! and she's very into colour co-ordination ! I'll get a photo in the daylight (wihout rain) asap - but if I want the caps done the same colour it's not a problem for him to do it.
  18. Decided to use up my last day of holidays from 2006 and get my slightly scabby 17" wheels refurbed before the roads get coated in all sorts of corrosive chemicals for the bad weather and make them look like they have the plague. Luckily I have a cracking place local to me in Preston who did a great job on my Celica alloys. Its called 'Wheel Repair Centre' and is run by Jerry Walsh (known as Mysh to the GT4 community). Rather than just some spray over wth a can of paint, I went for the full hog and got them powder coated - I also spent time painting up the calipers to complement my wheel choice. As it is still ****** it down I've not got a good photo of them in the sunlight but they really sparkle ! I'll add better pictures in the next day or so ! Ok here's the car just in the workshop : A close up of one of the flaked wheels which was apparently 'refurbed' (read sprayed with a spray can so as to make the caliper look like it's a zebra) by a previous owner : Prep work - sorry no pictures of this bit. Prepping the wheels involved stripping the wheel of the tyre and weights, then soaking it in a paint stripper bath to remove the poor Toyota Paint. The stripped wheel is then washed down and shot blasted to preaper the surface and then any kerbed edges or imperfections are removed by expert sanding (cheers Jerry !) Example of wheel prepped for the powder coating : Hot wheel being powder coated in dark anthracite(Cue the set blaster to stun jokes) : Then being lacquered to keep the nasty brake dust at bay ! Once they're cooked enough, leave to cool : Then put they tyres back on and balance up - re-fit to the car and voila - sexy ! Jerry is also doing a promo on wheel refurbs at the moment so if you want to contact him you can get him on www.wheelrepair.co.uk (under a bit of re-development) or Tel: 01772 627600 Mobile: 07814 749769
  19. I just fill up the IS with whatever 97, 99 etc fuel is nearer to hand - but given the amount of fuel it drinks I look for somehere to get Nectar points !!! Nectar saved me £150 on my xmas shopping bill in Sainsburys this xmas given the expenses I've put through this year on the CC ! I do wonder how she'd run on a 25 litre can of Racing Blue from Santa Pod !! The weekend beast is always filled with v-power or 99ron fuel. Jap engines run so much better on higher octane.
  20. you work from home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone has to come to the office to make sure you're working !
  21. these are rarer than unicorns wearing hens teeth necklaces... I rang a couple of local lexus dealers to me and they had no idea about that part. I managed to locate one of the nice flip up armrests that require you to swap out the 'tunnel' plastics. (rather than the custom made riser ones)... just got to wait for it to arrive. It's cost me £250 but it's worth it for the long distance drives I do.
  22. Hi There, Lexus Manchester quoted me £75 including VAT & coding last week!!!!! I don't suppose you got the name of the parts guy you spoke to ?? I need a spare key so that price sounds like a bargain ! If it needs gold level membership - I hope my card comes through soon.
  23. After some colour coding advice from peeps. I'm going to spend some time tidying up the car over Xmas/New Year by getting the alloys re-furbed and Powder coated by my local wheel whizz - Jerry @ WheelRepairCentre in Preston. Whilst he's doing the wheels I'm using the time whilst the IS is on the lift to wirebrush the calipers and paint them. Plue Jerry is doing a special offer for clubs on re-furbs over Xmas/New Year ! :winky: :D My IS200 is the dark blue colour. So what colours would people think suitable ? At present I'm thinking of 'anthracite' as Jerry did a fantastic job on my MoMo alloys on my Celica and painting up the calipers in silver.
  24. I'm in the same boat of only having one key - luckily mine is the master key which has the lock/unlock and boot open options on it. IIRC yuo need this key to be able to program any other keys for the system. I think you need to speak to your local lexus or toyota dealer about a new key - I know BloodyGoodbloke has had issues with teh spare key he bought off ebay - this was a blank key witht he 3 buttons on it. He's struggling to find anywhere who will cut the ley for him. So far he creckons he's spent about £80 buying the key and trying to get it cut - his local dealer would have done a new coded key for £125. Like I say considering you only have the sub key - you could try ringing previous owners (if you can find them off the V5) to look for the key - failing that i think you may end up having to get the system replaced.
  25. BloodyGoodBloke - cheeky feck LOL.. you know that was a minter of a ride.. despite it's problems.. above all it was a Vauxhall P-O-S. Y2Kanjar - it cost me £7500 (luckily on my doorstep).. There's a few examples up here which were good. I guess it depends on budget and how far you're willing to travel for a good example.
