  1. I wonder if you are the lucky guy who picked up the IS200 armrest on eBay a few weeks back? That's the only one I've seen available to buy lately.

For all those interested, it ONLY went for £189ish + P&P, for reference the group buy way back when was £190(?). What a bargain to whoever was the winner!

The nickname of the seller was "lexusedinburgh", was selling several other Lexus bits as well then.

  2. Is that a good price for them?

The new tyres which are on it at the moment were only fitted about a week ago the garage put a whole new set on when the car came in.

Should I still have a 4 wheel aligment done?

    Regards

    Gary

The price listed at mytyres is reasonable, but I would recommend you to get new tyres when you get a geometry adjusetment done if you are doing it at STS Watford, last time I checked only £95 each including fitting/balancing/disposing. Alternatively etyres which is also competitively priced and includes mobile fitting at your home/workplace!

Instead of a alignment, you need a geometry adjustment, this should be done at a WIM approved center (ie. STS Watford). Get more details from http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/, or PM the Doctor who posted a reply to this thread (2nd from top).

  3. Does anyone know any good spots where we could have a meet, a pub with a big car park so we can have a drink maybe grab a bite to eat.

I was thinkin of Odeon in Leic but i know they have huge speed bumps so thats a bit awkward.

    Anywhere in Northampton?

We got Sixfields where the local footy team do their thing, the place has with several pubs, ten pin bowling and a Cineworld cinema, lots of parking spaces too.

  4. Parklands.. I think there are a few more from just outside Northampton. I'll keep an eye out for you. Do you have a private plate? I keep seeing a blue IS with a private plate around the welly road area.

Nah just standard plates, although I have my big LOC sticker on the windscreen by the rear mirror. Hope to see you round, maybe at the meet Rikos' sorting out!

  5. I purchased my IS200 SE back in Feb and have been active on the board since, but never got round to introducing my car here till now, so here it is with a few pics I took today.

To see the mods I have done so far, check the summary in my siggy, and click on the link down there to find out more from the LOC registry. Comments welcome!

  6. There's no way the wheels make £1100 difference!! If it does everyone would make sure there wheels are top notch.

Private poor price is based on many things being poor with the car not just one thing.

If it wasn't clear from my post that the point I was trying to make is that there is a potential £1100 difference between a good and poor condition car, and that the cost of refurbing the wheels can be easily offset by the car commanding a higher asking price as the condition has improved, I do apologise.

  7. For anyone interested, this is the official information from government regarding road tax.

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Ownin...cle/DG_10012524

Which confirms that band G only apply to vehicles registered on or after 23 March 2006, anything before is either by engine size (registered before 1 March 2001) or band F (registered betwen 1 March 2001 and 22 March 2006).

So for most of us, this year's road tax is £205, unless you have a LPG conversion which entitles you to a mere £15 discount, so that's £190.

  8. The band of your vehicle isn't affected by alternative fuels, purely on engine size (pre 03/2001) or CO2 emissons (2001+), for a GS300 I'm guessing it's a band f (pre 03/2006) or g (2006+).

You DO get a DISCOUNT :D for going  , a mere £15  which means using band f as an example, £190 instead of £205.

    See this page for details:

In regards to fuel duty on LPG, it's bad news I'm afraid :crybaby:

"When used as a road fuel, the rate of excise duty on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas (including biogas) will increase by 4.28p per kg and 2.89p per kg respectively on 1 October 2007. The existing duty differential applicable to biogas will remain at present levels at least until the Budget of 2012."

  9. May I suggest winter tyres for the next winter? Before everybody starts laughing  about how few times it snows here, winter tyres perform better than summer tyres anytime under 7 degrees, so that's at least a few months here.

I can't say how climate change is going to affect our next winter though, so don't blame me if our next winter never falls below 10 :tomato:

  10. No, didn’t do it myself (i'm not even allowed to decorate) – I found a number plate supplier who will make you up whatever size/shape you want provided you send them a cardboard template.

Would you mind providing details of this numer plate supplier, I might be interested in a set, how much did it cost, and can a slogan and/or GB badge be added?

A query though I don't seem to see the name of the supplier of the BSAU 145d printed on the plate which is a legal requirement, is it just printed very small so not visitble in the pic?
