  1. Keith 10 mins to change, i did post somewhere how to do the other week ive thought about changing them on my Platinum Ice IS but think it looks a little naf with the big circle of red thats left in the brake light. think i'll be sticking to the stock red ones, unless its possible to get smoked one's and smoked rear light clusters??
  2. they said it was 'corrosion' i describe them as rust spots. they're little spots on the inside of the rear disc, only visible when the car was lifted and i was stood under it.
  3. of course there's more to come :D not sure weather to leave in the stock 6x9's or swap them for my 300w infinity's?? depends on how big a task it is to take old ones out! got a 10'' Alpine Type E to go in the ski hole (might as well get some use out of it as it'll never see ski's) that will be mounted on the opposite side of a custom box to the 12'' Alpine Type R (taken from my previous car) runs a very sexy 1500w peak and 500w rms. both powered by my yet to purchase Alpine 4 channel Amp! im all hot and bothered now :o *** damn weather, think i should turn the air-con on.
  4. they do look rather sexy, however i've since been made aware of an irritation when rolling on groovy disc's...... the tap tap tap tapping of the pads running over the grooves. is nothing straight forward anymore im tempted to leave this for now and go for the sports grill, spoiler and back box instead.
  5. too wierd :) and needles as i could have had it working 2 days earlier Alpine unit looks mint in the RED illumination btw, breaks up the orange perfectly! its a CDE-9850Ri if anyone's looking for a new unit that looks the part. Around £190 with an iPod lead that goes into the rear bus port (can also be used as an aux-in and multi-changer port). Sound quality is better than all the other unit's i considered putting into the car too B) not as glad as me! Anyway, what you doing on here in work hours!? I'm telling on you, on second thoughts i do probably spend more time on the net than anyone else at work, so i'll let it slide this time cheers for your help with it all mate, i do appreciate it.
  6. not sure how after-market stuff works but there's an anti rattle shim that goes between the pads on the stock one's. may just be this thats missing thats causing the noise (if they use them that is!) having a similar problem with my calipers at the minute, Lexus say it's the caliper pins that are worn, again my be worth looking into if the cars oldish.
  7. not on the Alpine unit! it worked fine without it in my mate's car!! The aerial's a ground in the Flame Grilled Lexus!!
  8. it did. when Bret and I were looking after work he comented that the aerial wasnt plugged in before the unit powered up, but the conector in the car was too big to fit into the one on the Alpine. He said it could be some Jap way of getting laugh's lol Off i went to motor-world and £2.99 later we had lift off!! The freeking aerial is a ground wire!?!? Anyway, HU is in, just waiting until mid next week to get my second sub and a new amp and it'll be done. Then it's a case of finding out how you post picture in the forum Thanks for your help guys, and Brett, lunch is on me again on Friday. :winky:
  9. checked both fuses, 1 under the bonnet, and 1 on drivers side behide that kick plate thing next to the pedals..... both fine. new unit does have a fuse, but its fine also. tried an ISO from motor world too and still nowt! the new unit does work though! had a mate pug it into the display at motor world and it powered up fine. bret's gunna have a look tonight so just have to wait and see. :)
  10. So there is no power at all going to the new Hu or its flickering on for a split second and then going off? With mine the red and yellow wires on the HU have small connectors half way down the wire, i had to connect the red to the yellow and yellow to red, does that make sense? makes perfect sense! tried it already though. its an Alpine CDE-9850Ri ill see what colours are in the car now. didnt really want to wire directly as id have to leave the unit in when i sell it, which is what i had to do with my old HU which was another Alpine but twice as good at twice the price. also, would anyone know where the fuse is just to check it.
  11. ive searched the forums for nearly an hour now to no avail trying and find some help as im not getting any power to my new head unit. ive read this thread: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=36144&hl= and purchased the lead recommended in it. however its not working, and im about ready to test the aerial abilities of the new head unit. just wondering if anyone new what each of the coloured cables do in the car were as they're not Red Black and Yellow as id have thought they would be. Please help as ive been without sound whilst driving for over a week now and its unbearable
  12. Can anyone recommend a good set of break disc's that arent over priced? Lexus Leeds have pick up on some rust spots (slight corrosion) on my rears so i figure i should upgrade to something aftermarket rather than be bent over and used as an object of fantasy by buying and having the dealership fit something from Lexus :D
  13. can't have both what? Sat Nav and the Mini Disk changer?? If so they would they both be able to run from the same port? i hear the sat nav mutes the drivers speaker when the voice kicks in to give an intruction!? sure it would require more than one cable between it and the head unit to carry out the function.
  14. So it's definitely for the S! But does anyone know what my extra cable is for that went into it, or what the spare port is for??
  15. since getting home i have discovered the Model Number on the front is 13901. not sure if it helps anyone in trying to help me
  16. Below is a picture of the back of my IS stereo, when i took it out of the car i had to disconnect 3 white blocks and the aerial. I know that the two larger white blocks are for the speakers and power, however the smaller white block i have been told is for sat nav (it was a red and yellow cable that went into the block) can anyone confirm this?? http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9563/is200stereonq3.jpg
  17. i have been told it can! You should get an ALPINE CDA-9853R , it is totally user changeable with regards to illumination. It will lead the ICE in my car in the next month when I get the time. Lots of great features you can program with pc then load to head unit on cd says the website... less than £200 It's only an idea. i know, ive looked at some other alpine units, but a friend has this panasonic and he swears by it. im just spoilt for choice! :)
  18. i have read a couple, and brettster is a mate of mine. the cahnge over is dead simple if you have an S, as it doesnt have the amplifier like the SE and Sport. there are leads available on ebay which allow easy installation of after market head units even in the SE and Sport models :)
  19. sound's nice, and im sure it will sound even better in the flesh! not sure about the 360 though, demands one hell of alot of power!!! im thinking a second battery and an inverter ARE going to be added to your list of items :)
  20. 23 had my IS for about a month and a half now. there was only 50difference between the S and the SE with regards the insurance. i pay jst over £600 a year. However i had to go for the S as the car itself was a real bargain!! had a corsa i battered prior to this and a bus pass prior to that.
  21. No code for IS200 as it does not have one. Post your pics of the new install during and after installation if you can !! i intend to, found the perfect Panasonic unit with orange illumination! was going to stick with Alpine (what i had in my previous car). but cant find an orange display unit. but this panasonic is pretty danm close to the alpine's ive been looking at! http://www.motor-world.co.uk/images/hires/13020.jpg
  22. Honestly!?? Chuffed to bits now i know that! and maybe need to stop saying that it doesnt have a code with it
  23. i recently bought my IS and i've already started planning my audio upgrade B) . i'll be selling my standard bottom loading multi changer to help fund my spending spree but i was wondering how i go about finding out what the radio code is for it. im struggling to sell it without one! can anyone help
