  1. Oh and Tony thanks for sorting out the car the other day, she is far more responsive now and no pulling what so ever. Might come back and get some arb's put in soon!
  2. The compression of the engine is now lower hence the loss in power.
  3. All in all there were 4 holes in the block! Weston Performance sorted out the rough idle I was left with after the stage 1 upgrade, and I now have an extremely smooth power curve, will post up the dyno graphs from TDI and from Weston so you can see the difference.
  4. It has been a while since I have been on the forum, one of the main reasons being I haven't had a Lexus for the past 4 months. As many of you know I had the stage 1 pulley put on my TTE supercharger which led to catastrophic failure. It has been a long hard journey but I finaly have my lexus back up and running. I had the engine rebuilt by Thor racing with a brand new bottom end. Conrods were sourced from a supra GA70 twin turbo, pistons are the JE ones available through TDI. Mapping was done by Weston performance who have done a fantastic job. I have lost quite a bit of power approx 50 BHP but the engine can now handle oodles of boost so the next step will be a more powerfull supercharger, more than likely a rotrex but I might opt for a vortech. Anyway thought you guys may be interested in some of the pictures below!
  5. I am concerned about valve clearance, the 1g-gte being wide angle head and the 1g-fe being narrow angle head. How would this effect the use of gte internals?
  6. Is it possible to just have the internals in an FE block?
  7. Can stock rods and pistons from an is200 be replaced with thos from a 1g-gte without requiring modification to the head?
  8. Hey Gord, Just read it earlier today, sent you an email.
  9. I have just been catching up with the thread as I have not been on for a while due to work and I am completely flabergasted at the statement you have made above. "cho's purse couldn't stretch to this?" Where did you receive your information to make such a statement? I was never told that the internals should be uprated and if I had been I would have done so. The whole reason I went for the stage 1 upgrade is becasue I was told it was safe to do on standard internals. Tony I understand that this may no be your own opinion and that you are merely acting as a voice for tdi so I will give you the benefit of the doubt, however I would ask that you refrain from making comments that have no substance. I have met you before and you have worked on my car and it was a pleasure. I find it offensive that you can there after make a comment such as this which is completely untrue. I have my car at a local garage, the new engine arrived yesterday and the strip down and instalation of forged internals will begin next week Regarding the email sent by Mark to me, I did not feel the remainder of the email was of relevance so I did not include it. I can confirm that tdi did offer me a second hand block, they did offer to do the work at cost but could not tell me what that cost would be. Fair comment.... I want to offer my sincere apologies for the "Purse" comment... It was based on how i perceived the situation not actual fact... So on reality i had no right to say what i said.... I'm sorry. I have to say though my voice for TDi is only so members can see the other side of the story. Thank you Tony, I would just like to say for the recored that I believe TDI make quality components and that I would still buy from them. There is still no evidence to support a view that would implicate TDI workmanship as being the direct cause of my engine malfunction. I appreciate everyones comments thus far and would ask that we all wait to see the results from the engine strip down. Tony I am still hoping to come and see you to get the steering arm installed and have the geometry re calibrated as soon as the car is up and running again.
  10. Im not offended by the claim that I couldn't afford it but by the fact Tony seems to believe that I was told I should have the internals upgaded which I was certainly not, the statement suggests I opted out of the safe option due to budget constraints which simply is not the case and I just wanted to clarify that.

  12. I see the light! Have sourced a second hand engine and car is being delivered to a garage on monday to start work!
  13. Yeah you are right but I just dont know whether it's something I want to fork out on right now. How is you car running with the low comp. pistons, what's the drivability like? I have spoken to a few people and had mixed opinions.
  14. Thats funny, Mr Mark Catchpole was very fast to post your dyno chart on the WIM web site. As ive said to you Cho, you would be best getting your car running again, find out why all the Eng/man lights are on, when you have done this. 1. Take it back for them to sort out, as thats what you payed for in the 1st place. 2. If the eng/man/light still comes on, take all the parts off and get your money back, like Raj did. 3. If you not happy with the work you have has done, ask for your money back. 4. Contact trading standards. Do you think I should just swap the existing engine with a second hand one? I would need to have the uprated fuel injectors removed and placed in the new one.
  15. From: Mark Catchpole Sent: 02 January 2008 16:04 To: 'customerservices@skyshack.com' Subject: RE: iS200 Hi Charnjit Unfortunately we have been unable to locate the electronic dyno data so far. I suspect that either it wasn’t saved or it has been mistakenly filed under another name in which case it may take us a while to find. We have three different methodologies available for recording boost pressure and air/fuel ratio data, and our technicians have their own preferences for doing so. The standard operating procedure we implement for recording results is a manual record, which of course we do have on file for your car.
  16. The car was actually due to go back to them this week to get everything sorted but obviously I have bigger problems to worry about now.
  17. I would have thought the same Rob. Cho might be better getting the car running again, by which time he should have the data, then he can compare the two. But his main problem will be the eng/man/light keep coming on, this he will need sorting ASAP. If it is like the others, it will be running rich. Out of intrest Cho, what sort of MPG was you getting after the work was done Not sure at all as the fuel gauge also stopped working after the Fcon was installed. It was totally erratic Another one, that has had the FCON fitted and the fuel gauge not working after fitment :D thats six that i know of now When you collected your car, was it all finished ? Yes I was told I would be very happy with it. About 50 miles after collecting it the engiine man. light came on. I was told the idiling problem was just due to the ecu "learning and self trimming" and should sort itself. Drove from london to leicester. The next time I got in the car the fuel gauge had dropped by half a tank! Was also having problems with the car not wanting to start.
  18. Just checked it, deffo around 150mm

  20. No probs mate, found a guy who is based in Rugby so not too far from me. He gave me some really good advice and I am jappy to get the engineers report done.
  21. Mate that's exactly how I feel, I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens, the en gine should be getting stripped down next week and will get the engineer in then and should hopefully have all the data from TDI.
  22. Well they said they would send me all the data next week so will see what happens. If they don't have fundamentals such as the A/F/R and boost pressure I'm sure it is only going to help me get things sorted quicker as it just shows a total disregard for the quality and safety of work being carried out.
  23. Ask Yemgi how he got hold of his, he has said something to do with the HKS FCON, Do you have the FCON fitted Yes I have the FCON fitted so hopefully the data should be there only thing is the car battery has died so i'm worried this may have wiped the data from my ecu and FCON? Cho can you tell me what the size of your pulley is If you look at your charger, it has pulley at the front, not this one, look where the belt is going, it should go down to another pulley, it will look new. Can you tell me what size it is, eg the diameter, just to give you some indication the standard one is 130mm across. Looks to be roughly 150mm Intresting as mine is 160mm, what size was on Yemgi's car ? No light where the car is so will double check tomorrow
