  1. I must be really lucky. I am fully comp including business use and I am only £230 with swiftcover. This is why I struggle at a group 1 Lupo costing £2300 for a new driver.
  2. Thanks Tommy. Where did you get your WIM settings done? I dont fancy traveling way down south to get it done? Kenny
  3. I found out that it is £950 cheaper to insure a 1.0 Volkswagen Lupo. But still £2300 which is just not an option.
  4. Our oldest son is about to turn 18 and has just passed his driving test. Someone at work is selling a 2001 'Y' Fiesta 1.2 for £750. Perfect first car for him. So I go to cunfused.com and check out insurance. The cheapest TPFT quote is £3200. How the hell can an insurance company expect to charge this sort of money for a £750 fiesta? The most expensive quote was just over £15,000. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that do cheap insurance for new drivers?
  5. I have a 2002 IS200 SE that has a tray on top of the dash. I have found a company who are breaking an 05 model that has the top dash with lid. How do I get this out? With the tray I have, I just flip up the velour pad and undo the 2 screws and pop it all out. Is the lidded version the same? Kenny
  6. I have seen a couple of IS200's where guys have fitted gas struts to the bonnet to hold it up. Any ideas where to buy them from? I have seen a couple of sets on eBay but they are from Taiwan which I am not happy about if there is a warranty issue. Kenny

  9. ^^^^^^ I dont quite understand your comment "Grief" The car has 1 previous owner. It was bought new by a guy when he retired. He was only selling it as he wanted a good sized hatchback to cope with his increasing brood of grand children. He had just bought a new Volkswagen Tiguan. It has a full main dealer service history, every previous MOT and every receipt for money spent (even puncture repair at Kwik-Fit). I paid for a full HPi report and it came back all clear. So where is the "Grief" ?
  10. Took me a while, but here is the advert from Autotrader for the car I bought. So as I said, have a good look around. Deals are out there to be had. Kenny
  11. Basically I found someone on ebay selling a full leather interior from an 05 car. I just asked if they would sell the armrest separately for £60 and they agreed. :D
  12. This arrived today £60 delivered I thought this was cheap, especially after seeing one sell on ebay yesterday for £113. Used the excellent guide on here Fiting Guide
  13. Recently bought my '02' IS200SE. 40k with FSH. Filled the tank to the neck. The fuel warning light came on at 448 miles. Refilled to the neck again and calculated 35.5 mpg. I was about 75% motorway 65-75mph. I am not too heavy with the right foot and rarely take it to 5k revs.
  14. Pretty much the same unit but those have a much lower resolution screen and also the motorosed mechanism is prone to failure. I'd be interested in anyone who has one installed and has maybe got pictures?
  15. I have a 2002 '02' IS200 SE. My neighbour bought and installed on of these in his Civic Type-S Flebay Link I had his car for a day whilst mine was in for a service. The unit sounded great, the touch screen is good and the sat-nav worked a treat. It comes with iGo 8 which is good, but my neighbour also has TomTom working on it. The only issue was the RDS function on the radio was a bit slow at picking up stations, but eventually got there. The unit is a DVD player, TV etc. It plays just about anything you can throw at it. The screen is clear and bright. It has an ipod connection and has bluetooth built in. I easily made calls with my iPhone 4. My Lexus HU is starting to give me problems. Mostly Error 1 but a couple of times it has failed to load or eject discs and got an Error3. Has anyone tried to fit one of these types of unit in their IS200? And if so, are there any issues I should be aware of? Kenny
  16. Only thing I would say is dont jump in, it sounds expensive to me. Decide on your max budget and have a good look around Autotrader, eBay etc. This seller wants £3500. I just bought a 2002 '02' IS200 SE with 40,000 miles and full service history and immaculate condition. Even my alloys are excellent. I only paid £3750. I saw a lovely 2003 '03' Sport with 60k sell for £3350 on eBay 2 weeks ago.
  17. I am getting close to having to replace the 4 tyres on my 2002 '02' IS200 SE. I am not heavy with the right foot. My next door neighbour has a 2.0 Civic Type-S with Michelin Primacy 17's. He swaps the front to the back every 5000 miles. He is now at 30,000 miles and they still look good. Where-as my missus has a set of Falken's on her Mini and they look poor at 11,000 miles. So, Who has got the most miles out of a set of tyres on their IS200? Is there a compromise with mileage and comfort or grip?
  18. 40 years old, full no claims, Fully comp with business use - £230 swiftcover.com
  19. I had one of these in my old Civic Click Sound is great, comes with Sat-Nav built in, ipod works a treat, bluetooth works on my iPhone. Only issue was RDS could be ropey.
  20. Hi everyone. I have had a couple of IS200's in the past. I have just bought a 1995 LS400. 97,000miles, 1 owner and Full service history. Only paid £900 which I think is a steal. Cheers Kenny
  21. There is a company on ebay who repair them for £220. Do a search for Faulty Lexus IS200 and IS300 CD Changer Repair Service Dont know how good they may or may not be.
