  1. I have had my 220d for two months now and covered 1500 miles I am currently averaging 42mpg it was slightly higher before the cold weather we have had of late. For the first 500 miles it was returning about 38 mpg but has risen as the miles clock up. In the main my driving to work is on country roads passing through a number of small villages which takes me about 30 mins. The style of driving I adopt is that of the criteria set by The Institute of Advanced Motorists, which is to be in the correct gear for the speed of the vehicle and to make good progress within the speed limits. I love the car and look forward to each time I drive it, having a few discussions with the dealer at present on my contract mileage allowance but that is another story. Merv
  2. Welcome Duncan Drill down through this form and you will learn more than you need to know form looking after your car to faults fault which have appeared over the last couple of years. Keep an open mind because Lexus owners expect nothing less than perfection.
  3. I know and understand exactly where you are coming from, like you I too was disappointed with the test drive of the Lexus. Nevertheless I bought one a 220d SE (after spending many hours researching this site) and I have had it now for four weeks and can honestly say that I love it. Yes the gearing is strange but I am used to that now and know how to use it to good effect, the car generally is very good. Fuel economy at first was in the mid 30s but it is now returning 44mpg after only 500 miles on the clock but I am still driving quite gentle. As for the dealership thay were excellent (Newcastle). I still get excited every time I get into the car for a drive.
  4. With regards to polishing I sked the same question and jamboo and Stev were most helpfull see topic "New is a picture" second page some good sound advise.
  5. Thanks for that Jamboo - have placed order with Carsparkle - Merv (newboy)
  6. Have heard a lot about P21S not sure how to use on new car (Lexus 220d SE) should I be applying sealent first followed by P21S
  7. Fantastic looking motor mate, have to say that I am a little bias because I picked my new car on Saturday which is the same other than the 220d SE I also found the Newcastle dealership excellent. You are one up on me I do not know how to post pics on the LOC site. Enjoy your car - Merv (new boy)
  8. Picked up my new 220d SE yeterday this is my first Lexus it is black with black leather interior and it looks the business. I thank the many members who post topics on this site it certinatly made very interesting reading in my research. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the topics but I figure it is simply Lexus owners striving and accepting nothing other than perfection. Thanks to all
