  1. Hi all

new on here and new to LEXUS!

    JUST BOUGHT A T REG LS400

wow what a car,why have I waisted years with bmw's?

can anyone help though the sat nav screen is blurred works when you touch it but the screen is almost impossible to read any ideas who fixes these?

    thankyou

    steve

steve have you chekced your boot to ensure it is not leaking - the boot seal is known to leak - oftn causing problems with the cd drive in the boot

  2. OluGTR, 6,000 mainly as I use the camper van for hols and general lugging stuff around.

    I see,

If you're doing 6,000 miles a year on the LS, you won't really need LPG for it as they are quite economical (for a V8 anyway).

I had a Camry with a V6 3.0ltr engine (95Nreg) a few years ago. One of the finest cars I've ever owned. I only used it on weekends so I didn't really think about fuel economy. Then I had to start using it more frequently and then I realised the Camry was quite thirsty for daily use. I know for a fact that the LS mk IV is more economical than a V6 Camry!!

    OluGTR.

totally agree with that - i had a 3.0 V6 GX before i bought the lex 2 years ago - very nice cars indeed and certainly something rare and different - only had 54k on it and was immaculate when i sold it

  3. hi

the colour codes are on the aluminium plate which is fixed to the body in the engine bay (left hand side when facing the back of the car with bonnet open) near the the bit where the suspension is fixed to

it will say something like 6P3 A02A

6P3 is the main body colour

A02A refers to the trim colour

the data badge does not give the colour code for the lower part of the LS - i got this by googling "Car Paint Wizard"

  5. Hi , problem sorted , after removing all 4 wheels and checking all was fine i noticed i had a brake light out . I replaced this bulb about a month ago with a 382 as listed by halfords. And it worked fine but noticed it was gone again since my fluid light was on. Removed the bulb and it hadnt blown .Confused me for a bit then i noticed the base of the bulb had 1 terminal and the bulb holder on the car has 2 terminals !!! . Must have made a connection for a bit then moved and showed a fail light again, so i think halfords listings may be out a little.Correct bulb now fitted . job done.

So the next time i fir a new bulb i'l be checking the terminals match up 1st !!

    steve.

steve these brake indicators where abouts are the wires - i had a look the other day but couldnt figure it out - is there one for each side or just one side - plz advise need to put my liight out aswell!!

  6. that if you switch the igntion off with the windows open you can still operate the windows untill one of the doors is opened - once a door is opened the power cuts out - very helpful if you forget to close the windows before switching off on a sunny day like today - i thought this was a brilliant idea!

is there anything they didnt think of..............................

  7. (Dare I say, I even think the 430 looks better)

    You dare not ...... :)

Ford scorpio lights on a ruler designed LS400 is not a good look, and as for the later versions which look like stretched Citroen C3's ....... dont get me started ...........

    Awaiting flaming ;)

i agree with you! - but when the time comes i may over-rule the looks preference for the extra gadgets the 430 has to offer - id be mad not to - it goes without saying once a lexus driver always a lexus driver.

The other day i went to look at my mates 04 plate skoda octavia - he seemed over the moon with it - but to me it looked so cheapy cheerfully hallowy plasticy tack - nothing compared to the bombproof construction found on every inch in the lexus!

i have yet to come across a car which will top a lexus in terms of build quality and reliability!

  8. Now I'm not usually a numpty, however...

I've just spent £8.31 at my local stealership on a new wiper rubber for my LS400. I parked the wipers at the 12 oclock position and switched off the engine, then I noticed that I can't lift the arm because it catches on the bonnet.

First question, what do I need to do to lift the wiper arm away from the screen?

Anyway, lifting it slightly off the screen I then slide the knackered rubber from the wiper which leaves me with a thin metal strip left in the wiper, can I assume this needs to be removed so I can fit the replacement rubber? I assume I do as the new one won't fit otherwise!

My next concern is that the new rubber doesn't seem to have any 'metal' support like the old one has, is this ok?

My last question is that the new rubber has a round bit at one end, I assume this is to stop it from sliding out when in use, I also assume that it faces downwards when the wipers are facing upwards?

    Sorry for the basic questions!!

to change the wiper switch on igntion and wipers and then switch off ignition as soon as the reach the end of the stroke - you should have plenty of access then - some refills have metal back or plastic back and they also should have some sort of locking clip at one end to prevent the wiper from slipping out.

With regards to the price paid i can tell you we buy these in at 12 pence for a 28 inch refill!! - you could of picked them up alot cheaper online.

  9. to be fully truthful with u mate, the 430 is the one to have, as said it is a stunning engine, and economy wise,. we have just got back from, Newcastle done 403 miles so far and the trip comp is still reading 100 left. that's around 500 to a tank of fuel, and some of that was on the small roads, and undisclosed speeds were hit several times on the journey, we have a 95 400 aswell, and although the resemblance is there, the 430 is far the superior. hope this helps

    Anuj

ha ha this 400 or 430 never end or comes to a conclusion! - i have been running a mark 3 for 18 months and have been very happy with but from time to time i still think of upgrading but dont know wether it to go for a mark 4 or wait a little and pick up a 430. I do really fancy the 430 wih the extra few gadgets and DVD sat nav BUT i prefer the looks of the Mark 4. The do like the facelift version of the 430.

Couple of guys on here have commented on electical and rust problems with the 430

    i shall keep reading.............

  10. If the LCD display is OK, it's bulbs, if the display is black it needs a new LCD display.Usually the temp. and clock

    display seem to fail first.

It does sound like a bad earth or a bad connection somewhere on your aerial or as it seems to getting called now your antenna!

Arial is a type of washing powder ( so I'm told) Antenna is a device for receiving radio signals! :D

Youre wrong steve - "Arial" is a font! (this is really helping the OP question! )
