hi mate, we have the same issue with the front bumper trim on our ls.
when we had a friend of mine round who is a lexus tech ( he was taking the alternator out) he sed he`d rather take the alternator out a few times than fit one of those bumper trim things. i left it as that so i presume it is quite a job.
when i get a chance i am just gunna cut them down to size so they are evenly sized/angled.
thanks for the reply anuj
youre right! its not a straight forward job - you have to atleast remove the wheels and mud guards and then you dont know how good access is or how rusty the bolts are !!
i was hoping to take it into the local garage and let them do.
cutting them is an easy option but i dont like cutting corners !!! LOL - im a perfectionist so ill leave that as the very last option
-
the state of these trims is letting the look of the lexus down - both are broken and hanging down and i have been meaning to replace them for a while and so phoned our nearest dealer.
The partsman came back to me to say the on their system the trim appears as one whole piece which fits from corner to corner of the front bumper - on the car they are just fitted at the edges - he emailed me a screenshot to confirm. the part number is 59711 and was pulled using the car reg number - there is no other part listed
can anybody here confirm wether this is the correct part or not - i dont mind if it goes right round the bumper as long as it will fit my MK3
also the cd changers packed up aswell - it wont play cds and shows error 21 - quick googling tells me this is a common problem - rang a few breakers but no luck so far - if anyone can help please let me know
-
may i also suggest you remove the front seats and clean underneath - my car was immaculate (it still is) inside when i bought it but when i removed the front seat to check why the heater wasnt working i found more than i was expecting - old invoices, sweet wrappers, coins and lots of small rubbish - definatley worth a look!

HiHi allThe Lexus bug bit and I picked up a 1995 LS400 (full service history from Lexus, been through 3 cambelt changes, everything working so very happy).
The only two negatives were:
1) road noise. It seemed very noisy and a lot of wind noise at 70mph. Having a look on here, I believe that it is combination of the tires (Pirelli's) and the road surface (managed to hit a 'smooth' section of the motorway and the dB dropped dramatically
2) low air flow from air con. Did a hunt around and saw reference to the pollen filter. I pulled it out and looks like it has not been changed in about 5 years!!!
So I think this may be the root cause - does anyone know the part number and whether/where I could order online?
I am in London.
Many thanks,
James
PS: the directions that people posted to take the filter out were spot on!
if you have Car Parts Direct or a similar outlet near you they will supply the part over the counter - costs around £22 - i had similar problem with mine when i bought it - i thought the blowers were made to blow like that to keep cabin noise down untill 7 months later when i went to get my air con charged and the chap pointed it out lol! - and it didnt look like it had been changed for years even though car was FLSH!?

hi
mike on my MARK 3 it turns the central locking beeps on/off - i only found it recently - after owning the car over a year! - it maybe different on the ls430??
-
if people are reluctant so BUY LS400s then they certainly are reluctent to sell them as well. I am on the lookout for an ls430 and have seen the number on sale fall from 170 odd cars to just 130 on autotrader. And many of these are high mileage cars which have been stuck at dealers overpriced.
Few months ago a MK4 with 180K went for under £1k - a similar car is on there at just under £5k......................... and its still there. an ls430 priced at £5k has been there a good month and still there!
-
Any idea when it was filmed? I mean £300 for a HID kit did seems a bit steep to me, so maybe its an older programme and like you say he did get good money for it, especially in the current market.
hello anees - have you sold any more cars recently??

Help! I went out to polish my '96 400 today and one of the wheels' centre caps was missing; presumably fallen off somewhere.
Does anyone know of a decent supplier? I'm not getting any joy on E-Bay, and I've heard that Lexus only supply them in packs of 4 at £200 a time.
hi
when i bought my mark 3 - all 4 were missing!!!!
i bought 4 for £100 inc postage from the usa - www.hubcapzone.com
if else fails give them a try
-
there a Y reg one on autotrader for £4995 - 92k on the clock - been on there 3 weeks............................still there - it is a buyers market out there if you can afford to run a v8!
-
I did mine myself, the hardest part is getting the car jacked up and taking the wheels off.
front set of Mintex pads £23.00. and I think they are better then the oem pads. i think the disks were £75.00 for a pair. the rear pads and disks are more expensive but the rear disks should last a long time.
how and why are the mintex better - please explain
also do the let off black brake dust??

Hi guys
Have just purchased a HID KIT off ebay and fitted today.
Well impressed with results and much improved on a 95 LS headlights.
H4 8000k kit fitted from a seller called "J_A_M PERFORMANCE"
£50 AND £10 delivery. Order from his shop as its slightly cheaper than ordering from main listing.
8000k gives clear white light with nice blue tinge but you can specify the k you want when purchasing.
This is a amazing price for what i think is a quality kit. Am thinking these were abot £250 a few years ago.
Hope this helps someone.
steve
hi steve pictures and maybe a write up would be very welcome.
The headlights on the ls400 are very good with the foglights lit aswell - how do the HIDs compare with regards to visibility.
Also im assuming you get one bulb for each side in the HID kit - does that mean that you have to leave the foglights as standard??
looking forward to your reply

mat when i bought my Mark 3 with 72k on the clock the drivers seat didnt work either. The passenger side works fine. I then replaced the drivers seat with a seat from a mark 3 which had only done 50k miles (because the leather on the original seat was worn and was letting the car down) but to my surprise the heated seat still does not. It is a common fault and i have just not bothered after that.
if you come up with a solution please post up

mat at the moment us mk 3 owners can only read and it dream about owning one in few years time!lol
-
very nice clean smart looking motor - whats the mileage and interior like?
-
in my ls400 it adds a distant hum to the sound of the engine which i dont like - and needs more pressure on the brake pedal due to higher revs
i like the sheer silence! but if needs must then it has to be done!
regards
miq

the car looks good inside out - the price? well i suppose hes a dealer and has got to make a margin on it - there was one on auto trader S reg with 80K miles for 3250 - been there at least 3 weeks - not there this morning - wether its sold or ad is expired i dont know - i think in terms of mileage and condition it one of the best ones on there at this moment in time
