  1. The problem with this is, if you do find aftermarket springs to your liking that are advertised as being a 20 to 30 mm drop, they will be a drop from the height of a standard GS and not the Sport. Which is already say 20-30 mm lower anyway. Im not 100% sure (Anyone, Bueller?) but i believe the MK1 Sport was only sold here in the UK and was fitted with TTE springs and uprated shocks. If you are hoping for a further drop of 20-30 my guess would be to look for some 50-60mm ones to fit all MK1's - Thus taking the drop further. But im not so sure where you would get them... more than likely the US. But searching never brings up too much. As mentioned above, for custom setups and such you would be looking at coilover kits.
  2. Thanks for the comments folks. Dave1: Yeah its a genuine Sport :P Leather is pretty immaculate, bar the usual marks on drivers bolster.... but even then thats not too bad.
  3. Woops should have updated. Nope. Not fixed yet. I do however, have a whole heap of servicing stuff for the car here including the fix. But it hasnt really leaked any more at all, mainly due to me not using it for long motorway journeys just now and more just local driving. It initailly appeared to be much worse than it actually is... thankfully! The oil level hasnt gone down at all. And ist not dripping any oil. Its running very well, but shall be doing it soon along with the usual service items and cleaning the engine up properly - not just the oily bits :zee: Thanks for the interest though. Whenever we do get round to it, i'll post up clean engine pics lol
  4. Well, its taken me a while. But heres a few pic of the GS. It isnt the cleanest but its the only pics i have just now. Cheers
  5. Doubt they will be too pricey, just dont like it being missing. Have mailed a couple of people breaking GS's so fingers crossed. Might have to go rob some random Toyota's in the scrappy next time im there though. My guess is its a generic Toyota item
  6. Bit of a strange part to request i guess, but ive just discovered mine is missing. Which cant be too good in this weather. Looking for the small plastic/rubber spare wheel well drain plug, bung type thing for my mk1 GS. Thought i'd ask incase any of you have one kicking around? PM me if you do. Thankyou :) Ross
  7. What about guys breaking them on eBay? some of the cars might still be complete enough to check the clocks before you buy. I would imagine a dealer/breakers yard breaking one could check for you? Worth a shot :winky:
  8. Hi guys, Ive taken a note of the part numbers you posted above for the rear qaurter window decals (as one of mine is missing/peeled off) And ive emailed my nearest Lexus dealer to see if they can do them. Dont supose you can remember how much they were do you? Cheers
  9. Ive just ordered a couple of those very kits for my mk1 Sport. What you need to do is bring up the page where the calipers are, then click on the assosiated items tab on the calipers. It will then bring up the caliper service kits, pistons etc. Hope that helps. Ross
  10. If you really want some proper advice about your choices of engine oil, I would recommend you look up the "oil man". Has he been on this forum? If not he shouldnt be hard to find as he is on every other car owners forum ive used. He gives great advice and knows what he's talking about. If you have no luck, i know for sure he is a member on www.mr2oc.co.uk Hope that helps
  11. Well, discs & pads are on. Thanks to a good friend who helps me out. Mintex pads are obviously up to scratch but the discs are also excellent. And are the exact same brand ive paid allot more for before, from so called Toyota specialists. The seller was also very helpful and service was excellent. Arrived next day in a proper big box taped up properly. Just incase anybody is interested and needs new stoppers. I would def use them again. Need to order calliper seal kits for the front though - not too healthy Thanks again to those who advised
  12. I must admit, thats a pretty good deal they do. And you'd probably find the pads they fit are the likes of ferodo or mintex, a decent branded product. However, kwik fit places around my way are filled with monkeys. Best avoided lol Have ordered some discs & pads this morning so heres hoping they do indeed fit. From what i see its the imported Aristo models that have the smaller discs. And ones for the mk2 should fit no probs :zee:
  13. Excellent, Thankyou for your reply. I'll get some ordered up. And yeah i'd agree with avoidng the cheap pads. Ive had mintex before and they are generally pretty damn B) good.
  14. As suggested, get a needle and have a good ol' poke about the nozzles to clear out any debris. Normally works, but if you can get them off soak them in some hot water & fairy liquid. Ive had this on a couple of cars and this has done the trick. But it could very well just be frozen. Had a nightmare with this yesterday on a road trip in a friends car. Always freezing up
  15. Hi Guys, Sorry to only have posted here when im needing advice, but i do have another question for you lot. Ive done some searching through the site regarding brakes on the MK1 (uk spec, not Aritso), and i see that IS brakes, and indeed MK2 brakes fit. Is this correct? If so, are the pads the same aswell? Ive seen these, would these disc & pad combo's be correct for my mk1 Sport? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS300-IS-300-3...A1%7C240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-IS300-FR...5QQcmdZViewItem Thankyou, Ross I
  16. Thanks for your reply, its much appreciated :) . Ive had a few pointers from a nice lad on the Supra forum regarding the oil pressure switch which is seemingly prone to failing and leaking quite badly. Its behind the aircon compressor and on the same side of the engine so im going to check that first i think, and look at the filter & housing at the same time. Will hopefully get a good look at it whenever a friend of mine, and myself are free. Will report back incase it can be of help to others. Fingers crossed it is indeed one of these issues and nothing major. On another note, my Lexus is the same as yours, model and colour ;) Cheers
  17. Hi guys, New member here with first question. Hopefully some of you can give some pointers and/or shed some light. I have a 97 GS 300 Sport with 120K on it (2JZ-GE) only owned it a week and drives like a dream. However it has sprung a nasty oil leak and im unsure where exactly its from. But it "could" be from the oil filter housing (factory sandwich plate?) Car had no leaks when i bought it so its just gone very recently. It seems to be from that passenger side of engine and has been running down the block & backwards under the car... onto the exhaust etc. A friend thinks this oil filter housing is no1 supsect so far. Do the filter housings have a gasket behind them? or some sort of seal? Being new to the Lexus scene im unsure of where to look for technical information or advice. Are there are area's i should be looking at for the leak? known spots etc. Also, would it be worth asking the Supra guys over on their forum about this? Thanks in advance for any help, its much appreciated. Cheers Ross
  18. Thanks for your welcomes lads, Will be sure to post pics once i have it cleaned up a little :winky:
