Well folks, sad news....pretty sure my head gasket has died. What started out as a misfire has turned into coolant in cylinders 5 & 6. I replaced plugs, leads, dizzy & rotor but after 30 secs of running its like its firing on 2-3 and plugs show coolant :( Wont be fixing it straight away but will more than likely be looking to rebuild it with a friend. We have done other engines, vauxhalls, bmw's and a nissan so have a good idea whats involved. What i could do with is a .pdf or downloadable Toyota engine workshop manual. Does anybody know where i can get my mits on this? I have similar manuals for my MR2 and find them pretty good so hope to get some more for this car. Car is a 97 mk1 GS JZS147 with the 2JZGE, so N/A Supra engine manuals would be fine too. Mainly for a rebuild guide, torque settings etc etc. Any help is much appreciated guys, Cheers Ross

Really? i also have rust on my drivers door. Our cars are spookily similar lol. Mine is at the top of where the plastic door panel stops. Will hopefully get a friend to repair it later in year :) Might go for a gold decal seeing as the badges are gold. Just done my calipers gold too. Cool.... will give him a shout thanks.

Give this boy a shout mate, i got my fog light from him and it was in excellent condition. Good price and he will list on eBay for you. Hope that helps! http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/puremoto-of-chesterfield B)

I assume you have checked the basics first, like wear indicators on the pads touching the discs etc? Seems so if you have copper greased the backs of the pads. Small stones & grit stuck in the pads can cause this.... was there any sign of anything when you cleaned them all up? Are the discs worn with a deep lip maybe? Either way, grab a can of spray brake cleaner, comma or similar, and give the discs a good ol' soaking. The stuff dries quickly and can be very good at getting rid of brake squeel. Rough mechanics method: is to brake quite hard from a high speed... building up some heat thus making the disc & pad surfaces new and fresh. Granny driving is no use lol P.S the sqeeling will go away when braking hard due to the calipers holding the pads to the discs tightly vastly reducing any chance of them vibrating. Which is the cause of the noise. Make sure the pads are held in nice and tight. All clips are there etc

Mk1 Exhaust

Thanks for your reply bud, Yeah ive looked all over the interweb but no joy. Can get rear boxes and cat pipes easy peasy but no centre sections? Well, other than genuine Toyota items. Been buying car parts online for years too B) Exhaust isnt too bad yet so rear tyres first "gulp" lol. -
Hi, quick question for you lot. Does anybody know anywhere i could get a centre section, 2nd cat to rear boxes, from? other than Lexus? Its the part that splits into two, with the small silencers before the rear boxes. Any info is much appreciated. As much as i'd like to go custom i just cant afford it right now and looking for a stock replacement centre section. Even a good used one is welcome? Cheers

225 45 18 is not a wheel size. Its a tyre size. How wide is the actual wheel you want to fit the 245 tyre to?
-
the bore size of a wheel is the size of the inner most hole that mounts to the hub on a car. It has to be the same or larger than the car you wish to fit the wheels to. If larger you can use spiggot rings to reduce the centre bore size on the wheel to match the hub. My guess for the varied offsets you found would be that the original 18" GS sport wheels that had optional 10" wide rears would have had staggered offsets aswell as widths. Unless running massive wheels & tyres you should be able to use a lower offset to fill the arches out a fair bit. The standard GS wheels are rather sunken in the arches in my opinion.

Sorry to hear that TF, spares for our cars are few and far between up my way, havent seen one single GS in a scrappy up here in years. However, i used a nice chap who's on eBay for a foglight.... Maybe give him a shout. He was very helpfull indeed and my fogger arrived next day! He seems to specialise in Soarers but breaks GS's too. Got to be worth a try :) P.S forgot to say, he will list any item you require to make life simpler http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/puremoto-of-chesterfield/

Wanted: MK1 GS300/Aristo factory OEM mud flaps. Even if you only have front or rear pairs, get in touch. Cheers ;)

I too have the Falken FK452's on mine.... excellent tyres in my opinion, especially for money. Will be getting them again. I have them on the rear of my MR2 aswell B)

No worries at all. Now get some pics of your GS up ;)

Factory size for the 10" wide rears is 275/35/18... not 40. Try some prices on the 35's. 9000 miles isnt allot i agree, but wide sizes do wear allot quicker on our heavy cars. 500 quid for 2 nexens is very expensive mate. Try a company called camskill.... you should be suprised ;) A local garage to you should be able to fit them for you for not too much monies. http://www.camskill.co.uk/ Have used them a few times for both my MR2 and the Lexus, excellent company and very good prices

Do you still have them? Somebody here may want them.... or... sell them on the mk4 Supra owners club. Some of those lads might want to buy them from you! they are worth quite a bit in the right circles
