  1. Having just bought a 2nd hand IS250 SE from Reading they are trying to sign me up for 3 services for £645 in advance. I have not investigated whether that is a good deal yet.
  2. Today I picked up my 1st Lexus, a 2007 IS250 SE Argento Ice with Pembroke black leather and ML MM. Very pleased and it's been a long wait to find one. Thanks to all those who post info on here that I have used to my advantage in it's purchase, since I have been reading the forums for a year now. As a bonus my beloved Toyota Corolla of 15 years sold within hours of picking up the IS250. Result! :D
  3. I too am close to buying an IS250 MM and until I drove the auto I thought I was a lover manual boxes. I found the IS250 manual to have a very high take up of the clutch and a very notchy shift. It wasn't a particulary smooth get away in 1st and I am therefore a convert to the auto. Also as the others have said, the VED banding is higher for the manual. I will be getting the auto. Also just to add, I said to the salesman I wanted a manual but after weekend test drives in both cars he made the case stick for an auto. It really suits the car.
  4. What colour are you looking for... might be changing my Cardxoton slate with cream leather... '08 plate. Cadoxton slate or Argento ice with black leather and MM.
  5. I have been looking for many months for a 2-3 year old IS250 SE with MM of specific colour and trim and there are just very few examples around. By the time you eliminate any high mileage and tired looking ones there are hardly any available, hence the prices will and have been going up. Good examples don't hang around so I guess it's market conditions. Dealers are not getting in the second hand stock since people are not buying new cars leading to shortages and higher prices. I just kept a daily track on the web site and set up alerts on both the Lexus one and Autotrader. Thanks.
  6. Hello All, Does anyone know of any product that can remove scratches from the aluminum effect centre console of an IS250 please? Many thanks.
  7. Many thanks for the very useful forum post to the online .pdf files. Cheers.
  8. Hello, does anyone know if there is a download site for the various IS250 handbooks please? I cannot find any ref. to them on the Lexus official web sites. Many thanks.
  9. So what Lexus dealer will that goto then...shame it's so far away. Thanks.
  10. Hello All, I am looking at spending around £15-£16k on an IS 250 Auto Multimedia Cadoxton Slate paint and Pembroke Leather. I would be really interested in any user feedback on the car and what to look out for when buying please. Seems they are very few and far between of this spec. Many thanks

  12. I found in the two manuals I have tried that the clutch take up was very high / late on the pedal coming upwards and it was very hard to pull away in 1st smoothly. Trying the auto in SE form and it certainly made for smoother progress. The dealer didn't tell me about the "pwr mode" button and I confess to not finding it despite a good read of the user manual. Has anyone else found the "pwr mode" button on the IS250 autos? Thanks.
  13. Oh well, my rougher, slower Sport only averages 30mpg. So go for the IS250 Sport Auto, and have the best of both worlds. :winky: Many thanks for your replies guys and I'll also have a read of the other postings in the IS250 area of the web site. I was sceptical of driving the auto but the dealer did a good job (Lexus Reading) of getting me into one and I have rather sucuumbed to its relaxed nature. I must admit feeling a little detached from the mechanicals using the paddles or the sports shift. Lets see how I get on with the manual test drive soon. Cheers
  14. I suppose the obvious difference is the lower CO2 emissions from the auto, hence less TAX. We tested about every combination possible before buying the 250 Sport, that was for the better road holding and we both prefer a manual box. You need to decide if you like auto or manual, a very personal choice. Have not noticed any high clutch travel on any i have driven. Yes, the lower emissions was what got me interested in trying out the auto. I did rather sucuumb to it but I'll be trying a manual very soon again to compare. On the subject of the Sport model, do you think it handes any taughter and does the ride suffer for being on 18" rims? Many thanks for your feedback.
  15. Hello all and nice to be part of the forum. Not yet an IS250 owner but would like to know the merits of either manual or auto boxes please on an IS250. I have driven both on test drives and found the clutch take up very high on the pedal for the manual. Is this normal across all IS250 manuals? Thanks Martin
