  1. Have still not seen any model of the new IS in West Cumbria, besides mine that is, I really thought Lexus was onto a winner with this bold new design, it appears I was wrong. D
  2. You can customise the door locking yourself from the main menu, I have mine, all doors lock when taken out of park, all doors unlock when park is selected. D
  3. Hear hear Bratman, I have a new 3IS 250, and there's no substitute for a 6 pot, let BMW, Audi etc. thrash the nuts of their 4 cyl. turbos to get 30 hp extra and be half a second quicker to 60, I'll stick with the smooth as silk V6 thank you. I don't know if it my imagination but I believe Lexus have tweak the 6speed auto on the new model and it changes a touch quicker than it older sibling, especially when using the paddles, can't wait for some better weather and be out on the A and B roads here in Cumbria. D
  4. I to went from a 2011 2IS 250 to to the new 3IS 250 and I find is superior in almost all departments, it looks fantastic, the ride is better ( it's firm but it doesn't jiggle the car about like the 2IS ) the new sat. nav. as been updated ( speed camera warning, speed limit displayed ) and the seats are very comfortable and there's much more leg room for rear passengers. I have only covered 800 miles so haven't experienced it to it's full potential but what little use its had on the A and B roads in this neck of the woods it handles very well indeed, and the auto box is as smooth and slick as the previous model and possibility a little quicker. The only criticism I have is with the door pockets were I much prefer the old design, having said that when in the car they are not really noticeable. I have not for a moment regretted my decision to change and anybody who may have doubts after reading some of the comments here is have a drive of the new model and make up your own mind. D
  5. Got caught in a heavy snow shower today, I can't remember the specific wording, but the sensor screen displayed with " Lexus parking assist sensors are inoperative, stop and clean ". Well I thought it was cool. D
  6. Still not seen any model of 3IS in West Cumbria yet, mine and I would appear to be a member of an exclusive club.
  7. Thanks Silver Arrow, I'll wait till I've gone past 1000 miles, before I give it some welly. As you say you can buy a few tanks of fuel with the amount you save with the 250, also you get that V6, lovely. DJP Will give my thoughts in due course. D
  8. Hi rayaans I must confess I didn't test drive the 300h only the F sport and the premier, so can't give an opinion. I am possibility in a minority here but I found the digital speedo in the F sport rather difficult to read at a glance than the analog on the standard model, I also prefer the more understated front grill. I have passed 650 miles does that mean I can tryout that sport mode now?. D
  9. Hi rayaans Yes it's arctic pearl, it as a slight ivory ting to it, it's a real headturner I can sense peoples eyes following me as I pass down the road, I was parked in a posh hotel a couple of weeks ago, and when I returned to it there was a number of guests admiring it. It is the 250, ( maybe the forum title should be 3rd series IS ) I do less than 8k a year so mpg is not a big issue and the extra money for the 300h buys a few gallon, also I couldn't bring myself to give up that V6 it's a lovely smooth beast. D PS. Thats a nice motor you have.
  10. Marcus There's a pic. of my arctic pearl IS in the post " At Last " D
  11. Hi Rabbers Pleased you liked my description of German car owners shuffling away, my car is arctic pearl so it really stands out ( see pic under post " At Last " ), I was parked between a Audi A4 and a BMW 3 series and it made them look a little old-fashioned especially the drab A4. Hoping for some better weather soon so I can get her out on the A and B roads in this neck of the woods, it realy does handle very well. D P S. Maybe I will have to get myself soom of those wipes you mentioned.
  12. Thanks for best wishes Richard I've had my 250 Lux. for a week now and still looking for excuses to be in it, called at a prestigious lakeland hotel last week, the carpark was full of the ubiquitous BMWs, Mercedes Audis etc. and with a couple of Porsches in the mix, when I returned to the Lexie there was a number of guests admiring it, and as headed toward it they sheepishly shuffled away. Still haven't seen another in West Cumbria. D
  13. Thanks IJP It meets all my expectations and then some, I almost wish I was back at work ( almost ) so as to drive it every day, as it is I'm looking for excuses to be in it. I am very impressed with the new sat nav system ( and the tec. in general which is all working fine ) with it's camera alerts and the display of the speed limit, I've had two passengers this far and both have praised the comfy seats and quiet smoothness of the ride, and how some reviewers can trash the remote system amazes me I think it's very easy to master. Now were can I go tomorrow? D
  14. Marcuc, not sure about windproof but if I raise it in this weather today in Cumbria, I would end up back in Newcastle were I collected the car from.
  15. Hi Marcus Yes it is a private purchase so I was chuffed with the offer, picked up the car yesterday and the 2 year service pack is on the sales invoice at £560 but FOC, also got a free brolly handy were I live. D
  16. I just seen my first 3IS today in West Cumbria........ OMG it's mine.
  17. Thanks LexIS200 As I said in a previous post had second thoughts a week in and nearly phoned the dealer to see if I could change it to a more conservative colour but happy I didn't now, it seems to have a slightly ivory tinge to it and anyway I'm retired so have plenty of time to keep it clean.
  18. Don't know what went wrong there, it's only showing half the pic, I will try again.
  19. Hi Johnm Thanks, I wouldn't say it's flew in, as for the colour, I was a little bit concerned after I had ordered it but looks well in the pic. it's has the light grey trim it was that or black not keen on black, only one more sleep. D
  20. Hi DJP The dealer phoned the week it was due to arrive to say it would be 3 to 4 weeks late but didn't give a reason, when he said Lexus were offering me 2 years servicing it did soften the blow somewhat.
  21. It's been a long wait, ordered on the 12th Aug. picking it up on Tues. the 17th, was given early Nov. when I placed the order so it's a month late and for that reason Lexus UK have given me 2 year free servicing.
  22. IS 300h/IJP Thanks for the advice and I am going to try and take it, I'm going to attempt to put it from my mind for the next six weeks, and then hopefully, I will have two weeks of nice anticipation. IJP Regarding the weather, Workington where I live, would appear to be on the same latitude as Belfast and as a consequence as a very similar climate, we seem to get the weather that they had a few hours earlier if the wind is from the west. The new IS seems to be selling well ( did I read somewhere that sales had been 50% higher than expected ) but I hope not to well, I like to drive something a little different. D
