  1. I thought what he said made complete sense, what's the problem? LOL B)
  2. Looks great - that autoglym stuff, is it the one you spray on after washing and buff off straight away? The shine looks good. Like the exhaust tips too, you need to post a pic once they are fitted. Is the exhaust a 'cat back'? You'll need to update us on what it sounds like too (somehow??) Cheers Phil
  3. Nice one, just found a set on fleabay for a couple of quid. Thanks to everyone for their help on this one. I love this forum! :D Anees, don't worry about it mate, now sorted.
  4. Cheers Anees - will repay the favour someday if you do manage to track one down. Here is an image of what is needed ..... Cheers Phil
  5. That would be great Anees. I can send you money for payment via PayPal instantly. If you do find one, just let me know the sale & postage costs. You are a star! Rob - thanks for the tip :)
  6. Does anyone have one of these they would like to sell ASAP? It's the tool needed to remove the wheel cap screws that protects the wheel nuts on the GS300 Mk2 18" sport alloys. I have just discovered I do not have one!! Thanks Phil
  7. The front bumper on mine is a standard one, the sport one with the TTE lip has at some point been pranged and the replaced with the standard one you see in the pictures. I believe that it is the law that you should have washers with Xenon lights, don't tell anyone! lol I will, in the future, be correcting this. It does not bother me too much as there are a lot of nasty speed bumps near where I live!
  8. If you look at the fourth pic you can see the wire clamped to the damper it then passes though the inner arch on the IS. IIRC the faults that have been reported on here after suspension work have been damage to the ABS sensor wire not the actual sensor. These were probably due to not removing the sensor and the wire getting strained. Personally I have not had any major problems getting the sensors out and I have now replaced 4 bottom ball joints with no sensor faults afterwards. As you say mate it's a personal call but I would defo remove the sensor. I will remove the sensor - lol
  9. Yeah, there is not a lot of slack. Although the wire is clamped to various places on the upper wish bone etc (on the GS, not sure about the IS). You can make more slack, and disconnect it at the inner wing if need be. I guess it is a personal call on whoever is doing the job, I did not need to remove mine to do the top wishbones, and have heard of people having issues with the ABS after the sensor being removed for the job by garages. Undo it, if it comes out easy, then all is good, if it is stuck, I wouldn't try and get it out personally. Thanks Guy's. I will attempt this this weekend on my Mk1 GS. Phil
  10. Has anyone (TigerFish :) ) done a work shop for the removal of the lower ball joints for the Mk1 GS? Done a search, come up with nothing on here? Any info would be welcomed. Phil
  11. The steering wheel wobble could be a number of things - firstly either get the wheels balanced or swop the rears to the front and see what happens. Check the discs, may be warped!? Check these first, then let us know what happened Phil
  12. Hi Dave and welcome to the club. Here is my two pennies worth - You need to look at the upper wishbones and lower ball joints all around the car. Turn the wheel to full lock on both sides and check for uneven tyre wear. Drive the car and go full lock to full lock while moving, any funny noises? If there is is could be the wheel bearings. Hold each wheel and yank them, any movement? If there is again, wheel bearings. Check the exhaust, especially where the downpipes meet the centre pipe as the joints (or the gasket/ring) here tends to go and check out the rear boxes. Check the springs (especially the sport version). Check the brake discs all around, test drive the car and brake hard, does the steering wobble? Check the stereo, mainly the facia panel LCD, is it functioning? Find out when the cambelt was last changed, check the radiator, look for rusty water, if it is present it may mean the inners of the radiator have gone. Should be fine if Lexus/Toyota coolant has always been used. Bar this, the usual stuff when looking at a car. Good luck mate Phil
  13. The gauge gives a constant reading Graham and shows the level of fuel, even when keys out.
  14. God, this makes me angry, little feckers! I had a camry broken into once, mad me so mad! I feel for you. If you are insured fully comp and make a claim, I believe the excess will apply, you should report it to the police though to get a 'crime code' or something like that!?
  15. THIS POST IS PICTURE HEAVY, MAY TAKE TIME TO LOAD.... OK - Here are my two GS sports (for now the Mk1 will be put up for sale soon). There maybe blurry bits in the photo's - toward the centre of the picture - as my daughter kindly dropped my camera in a sink full of water What do you think?
  16. Thanks Norlec and rtjc. The front lip - trouble is there are loads of speed bumps around where I live, I could not see it lasting too long!! I am about to post a load of pics of the Mk1 & Mk2 sport in a bit, just watching the MotoGP - cummon Toseland! P
  17. I'll line them both up tomorrow and take (next to each other) front, rear, and side shots, let the debate begin! lol Phil
  18. I would agree, the Mk1 has a sort of exotica look about it and really does look like a muscle car too. Definitely a classic to be. For me though, the Mk2 is more refined looking, in my eye's at least, it's a bit more classy and has a air of quality about it. I must say, that when I am out in the Mk1 more people seem to want to race you, generally BMW 330i types! Just the other day, we were coming down the M5 toward home, a RS4 geezer flew past me, I was traveling with cruise on at 70, he then slowed, until I caught up and slowly over-took him, no sooner was my arse past his nose and he was there, in my mirror, looking to prove how fast he was, I pulled over to the middle lane and let him past with pleasant wave, you know, the kinda wave you do with your fingers in a loop! lol
  19. Yes I now have two, my wife drives the Mk1. Going to lose the Mk1 in the near future though, the wife has decided she would like a smaller car (she used it most when we were a one GS family - I just enjoyed it at the weekends). Now I have the Mk2, I ain't gonna argue! The Mk1 is in great condition, needs a new exhaust (centre pipe - from cat) and a new spring... The Mk1 has had the lot done, New cambelt less than 800 miles ago, new B service, new disks and pads all round (less than 20 miles since the rears were done), rear calipers refurbed, new platinum plugs, new air & fuel filters, new tyres, everything works as it should, and has a (nearly) FULL LEXUS SERVICE history! Last done two months ago at Lexus Hanley, 120,000 miles and runs like a dream (apart from the blowing exhaust) lol :)
