  1. hey, no its not a uk spec unit, do you think i could get a uk spec iso plug? or which wires would i need to solder?
  2. hey just got my new headunit today, its a JVC KW-AVX820, still waiting on the amp bypass cable so can't install it yet, but I was having a look at the wiring and it looks very confusing, don't know how this will hook up to the car, pics below are of the cables provided do i need to get another cable to attach it all up or will i need to solder the wires?
  3. ah brilliant, thanks a million, I was getting really frustrated last night trying to get it out because in the walk through it sounds so easy
  4. hey so i was having a go at removing the old headunit last night while i was doing the footwell lights just to see how easy or hard it is and got stuck at the first hurdle, took off the top of the tray thing at the top, wasnt screwed on but couldnt pull the rest off then, is it hard to pull out or should it come off easily enough?
  5. hey, yeah got it all wired in last night, pulled out panel with the heated seat buttons and trc and snow and put the wiring in the back of there, all wired up to the ignition barrel now and looks brilliant, gonna stick up some more pics tonight
  6. ah great thanks, got to get a bit of wire because the wire they came with aint ling enough but drivers side is done, only one problem, managed to blow a fuse, the one for the ignition barrel light, Hey mate, do you know where that fuse is? Coz mine blew last night too, and I miss my blue footwells when I get in the car lol hey yeah after a lot of looking i found it, it was in the passenger side fuse box, it was the 7.5 amp fuse for the dome light,
  7. yeah i was looking at that, but i am hoping the L brackets will do the trick, will hopefully have it all finished by 2moro so pics will be going up then
  8. Cheers mate, look forward to the pics :) Also was it easy to figure out which wires from the ignition ring to use? And what sort of connection did you make? Do you have any pics of that too? its easy to see which two wires to use, as its just the ones for the buld on the ignition ring, but they are both black so it takes a bit of guessing to see which is positive and negative, i just stripped back the 2 wires and soldered the new wires on, dont have pics yet but once i wire in the passenger side will take some pics of it
  9. hey thanks, no had no real trouble, thats only a temporary fix at the mo, i am going to permantly fix it tonight, ya know when you reach down and you can feel the lip, its just mounted there facing the peddles so it cant be seen, yeah i used an led strip, what i am going to do tonight is using L brackets, stick them to the lip and then the led strip to them using double sided tap, its hard to explain but once its done will take a pic to show exactly what i mean
  10. here is my dash and one footwell light in, have to add the passenger side still they arent the best pictures in the world, sorry
  11. ah great thanks, got to get a bit of wire because the wire they came with aint ling enough but drivers side is done, only one problem, managed to blow a fuse, the one for the ignition barrel light,

  13. hey, got all that done, have the drivers side light all wired up, its just i am not sure were i should pass the wire for the passenger side light through the drivers side?

  19. hey just wondering if this is the correct amp bypass lead? http://cgi.ebay.ie/Lexus-IS-200-Series-Amp...A1%7C240%3A1318
  20. hey yeah, its locked to region 1, just having a look now to see if i can found the unlock code or if i need a piece of firmware, there is a guy who sells the unlock codes for 5 euro so if he has it and after lots and lots of searching will ask him for it,
  21. hey so i just got another email of jvc, the kw-avx 820 will work with european stations, but it is region locked, but they also said it can be unlocked if you can get the codes, or there is companies that will unlock it aswell
  22. a guy i work with might have an apexi one for me, gotta wait and see what he says but he also offered me 2 amps and 2 subs, don't have the sponds for them at the min though, can find out makes and models if anyone is interested
  23. http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=350188723319 while browsing through the wonder that is ebay came across this, never heard of this make? the stainless steel cone filter looks nice but is discontinued
  24. hey, was looking at the specs and the tuner is switchable so it will work in europe, radio station names wouldn't bother me at all, the specs are actually confusing with regards to dvd, the region is 1 but then below that it says 1234, maybe you might be able to make more sense of it http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/15/LVT1958-001A.pdf page 4 gives the dvd settings and tuner settings are on page 17 the price difference is about 200 euro, its retailing for about £529 in the uk and about $480 dollars in the us
  25. hey yeah i was thinking that myself, just think they should try come up with a better excuse than i dont know the american products, doesn't really instill confidence in a customer, even if they will prob never deal with an american product, its never good to hear some one in a support role say "i dont know" I think i will just buy a uk spec model, wont be worth the hassle getting one from the states and at least I will have it sooner
