  1. There's a good tutorial here on this. Just replaced some bulbs myself today. Pretty easy to do. http://my.is/forums/f221/how-change-your-main-gauge-cluster-ignition-ring-lights-leds-pics-359216 Does anyone know if the dimmer switch for the interior lighting should be illuminated itself? Quite a few of my bulbs have gone recently but couldn't see any light bulb inside the unit when I pulled the plastic shroud off? Cheers for any help! Chris.
  2. Hi, Can anyone here recommend a quality garage in the Aberdeen area? Had my 2001 IS booked in to Arnold Clark today for 110k service and MOT. I've been there for the last few years since the Lexus dealer moved out of town, and the service level has been ever decreasing. Today they tried to charge me £2500 to get it through the MOT (I needs a bit of work on the brakes). But to really hack me off I had pre-booked a courtesy car which I received, however at 5.15pm today I finally get a call detailing the work to be carried out and the cost, but I must return the courtesy car today by 5.45 or first thing tomorrow, regardless whether or not my car has been serviced fully. Anyway... If anyone knows a decent garage around Aberdeen that would be appreciated. Work needing done; - Clutch kit - Front and rear brake pipes replaced - Power steering cooler pipes corroded and needing replaced - Some minor welding work on the exhaust. Cheers.
  3. Hmm? but if the bumper is off, how do you get the bumper back on with the caps still on, seen as they sit on the outside of the bumper?
  4. Does anyone have any idea on how to replace the headlight washer caps? I have 2 brand new ones to fit but i'm really struggling to find a suitable method of getting them on! Any help would be great, cheers!
  5. My car makes a similar 'clunking noise' when changing from 1st into 2nd and sometimes 3rd, depends how I move the gearstick. Is this typical of a worn clutch? What sort of price is a clutch to replace? Got an 80k service coming up so would like to do most of it myself to keep costs down. Any help would be great, cheers.
  6. Bought some Meguires engine bay detaling products this week, just seeing if anyone has any tips or pointers on what to cover up in the bay. Obviuosly the battery and air intake, and anything that looks as though it shouldnt be wet. What are everyones experience's with giving the engine bay a good de-grease and clean?
  7. looking good mate!! Where did you get the yellow bulbs for your fog lights? seen that on a few cars and looks pretty good, very european i'd say.
  8. This should be the easiest job ever to do, but I need to replace a bulb on the license plate and cant seem to get the dam thing off? Anyone know?
  9. When braking at higher speeds about 60-80 mph, when I apply the brakes, they seem fine, the brake pedal pushes down fine too, but if I quickly release then brake a bit harder again, the brakes feel alot better, firmer and more responsive. Im not worried about the brakes because the work perfectly fine but it would be good to get them like the second 'push' all the time. Does anyone have any ideas of why this is? Im not braking long enough for the bakes to get that hot which I first thought it might be. My brake fluid levels are good too. How easy is it to replace the brakes lines and change out brake fluid? Any help would be great.
  10. There is a really annoying creaking noise coming from the front of my car, but its only ever when I come to a complete stop, never when moving, was only from the front nearside but now seems to be offside too, has anyone any ideas as to what it could be? Bushes or broken spring? As I say its only as a brake to a complete stop. Cheers
  11. Hahaha oh yeh, of course :winky: Nice one cheers, it was a Beat 550 cd/dvd player, it sounds pretty decent for what im looking for, but just had a few problems early on with it, but hopefully thats it all sorted :D
  12. aha, nice one guys, cheers for that. So does that mean if I connect to any earth then il be able to watch dvds at any time, ie passengers when im driving?
  13. Finally got my unit installed along with my sub and amp. Altho wheh I went to play a DVD it just shows the screen "do not watch whilst driving" which is fine except i was parked with only the key to ACC. I contacted the company and they said I have to connect the cable from the back of the headunit to the handbrake cable? has anyone else had to do this? I am now hugely regretting buying a headunit from a brand ive never heard of, even though it was from Car Audio Direct, anyway any help would be great as always!
  14. I installed my new headunit the other day with a sub and amp and they are working really good now, however when I turn off my engine and remove the key, each time I start up the car again all my settings have gone back to default, ie: bass, treble etc? Has this happened to anyone else? Could it be something to do with the amp bypass cable? Any help or pointers would be great as always!!
  15. Yeah I expected that but I thought having the sub would have taken a lot of the load of the door speakers etc. I had the same sub and amp in my old fiesta with stock speakers and the sound was alot better, im starting to think it might be my headunit that isnt all that powerfull, i think im gonna send it back anyway as it doesnt feed cds in, only got it out the box yesterday!! :duh:
  16. Yeah mate, im from aberdeen too and I need it done. One of my mates got it done on his Lupo gti and he couldnt speak highly enough of the place, il find out the place and let you know, he was 70 for the whole job. Said the service was excelent :D
  17. Got all my cables from my headunit throught to the boot really well today, made a decent job at it so pleased with that. But when I turned on my headunit and turned up the volume, it seemed that the bass load was still coming through all the speakers instead of most of it going through the sub, ive fiitted the amp bypass cable, but was wondering if maybe that cable isnt designed to be used with a sub and external amp, does any know much about this?
  18. Yeah cheers everyone, found the post about removing the amp, giving it a shot tonight. There was one other thing if anyone could help, whats the best way of feeding the cables from the battery and headunit to the boot. Is it best to lift up the plastic srtips running between the carpet and door sils? Will that allow me to run the cable to the boot easily enough?
  19. Nice one mate, got it through just fine. Im assuming you have an amp in your boot, where abouts are the adaptors located for the amp bypass cable? I can see the amp behind the glove box no bother but the 2 plugs i can see dont match the plug on end of the bypass cable. Do I need to remove the Lexus amp to get to the plugs? Cheers for the help!!!
  20. Does anyone know how to get a power cable for my amo through the bulkhead? ie, a goo hole or anyway of gtting it through, i cant seem to see anything that will work, any help would be great folks!! Chris
  21. The changes are summarised here. I think since you've got the raised rear spoiler with built-in stop light, then it's a post-2001-update model, since that was one of the changes (unless of course someone has added one onto yours later). Three-hole windscreen washer jets (as opposed to the earlier two-hole, and later fan-type) are another thing that you can check. Nice one mate, clears things up alot. Looks like I have the post 2001 update model. So just need to find out if the TTE/Eibach springs are 35mm drop on the pre or post 2001 model, im giving Lexus a call tommorow so will quiz them about it.
  22. What exactly is involved in a WIM check? Is it a largely allignment, camber setup? Seen alot of talk about it and very curious! Cheers, Chris
