  1. ['Stacey5426' post=697672' date='Nov 12 2009, 02:38 PM]Try Direct line, my partner has a BMW 316i at the moment and pays £40 per month with 1 years no claims, I pay £60 per month for my IS200 for the 2 of us on the policy, me with 2 years no claims. That doesn't seem to be a very good price at all. That is almost as expensive as PhillP's renewal quote, which he didn't want to pay. Plus Direct Line are a very bad insurance company. If you ever have to use them, they will give you more hassle than what the issue is worth. I've heard so many stories of how much problems people have had with them, including myself. ____________ It was the best price I could get, partner was 24 when I took the policy out with 1years NC and I was 23 with 2years NC, never had any problems with DL, lost my job few months ago and thus couldnt make a payment, they were very accomodating and put payment on hold for the month and then let me pay it a month later. I know loads of people with them who seem to find them ok. I was with Churchill and then Hastings who were ***** to say the least!! All other companies I got quotes from were in the region of £900-£1200. I had an accident 3 years ago which doesnt help, plus when I got quotes companies wouldnt insure my partner on the policy for some strange reason.

  3. battery mate if your batteyr warnign light is on on the dash , then its your alternator, but battery sounds like the one Battery light wasnt on, but got multi tester out to check voltage on the battery and it was runng at next to nothing before alternator kicks in, voltage on the new battery runs a lot higher before the alternator kicks in. It did struggle to start this morning, however it was 1degree outside and car hasnt had much of a run, only does about 12 miles at a time at the moment
  4. Sounds like a scam, When I sold my Ibiza in July I had 3 calls from different people based in 3 different countries. They didnt come to an arrangement, they 'told' me what was going to happen, my reply was the same as yours unless its cash in my hand the car isnt going anywhere!!
  5. Got a new battery and replaced it. So far seem to be much better, more voltage running through it before the engine starts. Now the car starts first time :-)
  6. Just had the same problem with mine, its a 2001. It just wouldnt start in the mornings, voltage was next to nothing so changed the battery and touch wood its ok now. The voltage is much higher.

  9. Cheers, think its going to be a new battery, only had the car since Aug and cant find anything in the limited service history about a battery. Will change the battery next week and hope that works
  10. Got a small problem, my 2001 IS 200 struggles to start when it hasnt been run for about 12hours, but more so when its a bit cold. Got in it this morning and it took 4 attempts for it to start. The battery level was just under 9v which isnt normal, but within 30 sec of the car running it was back up to 14v. Any ideas whats the cause of this, thought it could be a battery fault but dont want to shell out on a new battery if thats not the cause Any help would be appriciated Stacey

  12. Hi, Had a look round the forum and cant seem to find any info on what im looking for. Its come to the point now when we could do with a tow ball fitting to my lex, however im quite, how should I word it, anal, and dont like the look of the standard ones that seem huge on the car. Ive heard you can get removable ones, and a plug to fit in your bumper so when its not in use you cant see it Any help would be very muuch appriciated Thanks in advance Stacey
  13. Hi, Bought my 2001 Lexus IS200 SE back in August, 85k on the clock and paid £3200 for it (trade), it had service history up to 45k from that point on they did the servicing themselves. I didnt find it was a problem, my partner services most of our vehicles, so he had a good look over it before we bought the car. If you know anyone who knows a thing or two about cars and the mechanics of it, get them to have a look over it. Touch wood so far mine is doing ok... doesnt like starting when its cold, but apart from that it runs smoothly Stace
