  1. Yep it's pretty smooth. 3 coats of paint & one of clear made sure of that. You could put another coat of clear on if you wanted. The black will help hide the dust a bit too.

I've seen others after they've finished with the wire wheel go over it with a small grinding wheel to really get it smooth.

  2. Finally got around to tidying up my brake calipers over the weekend. As you can see from the pic I took of them when I put the EBC pads in they were looking a little manky.

Took to them with a wire brush attached an electric drill & a can of brake clean. That cleaned them up nicely. Thought about just spraying clear coat over the polished metal but I had brought a can of K&H black caliper paint on Friday so I decided to use it. 3 coats of black & 1 clear came up quiet nice.

  3. Is it an English thing to name your car? My mrs is from mother England & likes to give cars names. We called mine "Terry". I wanted a male name as it would be less temperamental than a female :winky:. We called her Corolla wagon "Craig". Her previous car a Subaru Outback was named "Bertha" & it was an old pig.

  4. Yellows take a while to warm up to operational temp. Not really for street use unless you have a high HP car. The Greenstuff you have should be sufficient for the IS200. They're rated for cars upto 200hp. Your grooved disc will help keep them working at their best longer to.

  5. Cats are part of the header assembly on the autos. You're stuck with them unless you want to get secondary headers custom made. No one makes off the shelf units for them, only the manual which has a single O2 sensor. The auto has two, one sensor for each cat.

  6. Don't forget to change your fluids. Some decent high temp brake fluid is a must. Get yourself some Redline MT-90 for the gear box & some 80w140 for the LSD. You'll also want to put some fully synthetic engine oil in & a quality oil filter to protect the engine from oil pressure fluctuations at high rpm.

As the others have said ARBs are a must. If you're on a budget you could get away with just fitting a rear. Front & rear upper strut braces also help lots in the twistiest.

Another thing you could look at are braided brake lines to help reduce fade. Looks like you've got pads & rotors sorted. You'll want some decent rubber as well, no point spending all that money on the suspension just to have your tyres let go.

  7. As far as I'm aware Altezza don't have transponder keys. Mine doesn't & I can't see any mention of a transponder in the EPC on ToyoDIY even for the later stuff (i.e. 04). Alarms were an optional accessory & you'd know if you had one as they had huge stupid remotes/fobs.

Your problem sounds like an ignition module playing up. But since the 3SGE doesn't have one as such then it wont be that. I'd see if it's putting out any fault codes. Could be a faulty ignition switch or relay?
