  1. been working long hours, maybe this weekend. i have a scheduled MOT next week, so maybe sometime soon with the pictures. i have not been driving it without my MOT/Road tax, do not want any ridiculous fines.
  2. altezza is not obdII, you will need to do a little more research through the forum to find out which code reader you will need. maybe have to go to a toyota dealer, not sure, don't remember. topic has already been covered in this forum. also try tezzaworld, they would know better, for sure. good luck.
  3. As to be expected in this area of the forum. Another plus one post to someone who has no idea what is going on. I really appreciate the thought and consideration you put into your epic contribution to my situation. I never, ever thought of waiting while my MOT was done. You are so right, why didn't I think of that. All my problems are solved. You are the epitome of wisdom. Now where was it you said I could go to get the MOT done, while I wait? I am sure you will mention it when you add another post to your ever increasing number. To be able to dole out the wisdom as you do... maybe since it has been so much, it is not so good now, as it was in the beginning, I am sure, when you knew what you were talking about. Now seriously, I just want to get an MOT at a respectable place. If no one knows, no big deal, I can find one. I just thought maybe someone would be helpful. I hope I did not anger the prepubescent gods of forum wisdom, and doubly, I hope I did not anger the forum moderator.
  4. anyone know of a decent place to get a MOT done in the whereabouts of Newmarket, Bury St. Edmunds, and Thetford? if I have to put a bottle of Jack Daniels in the back, I don't mind, I just don't want to drop my car off and pick it up out of gas...

    Mot

thanks for the reply. i was beginning to think there were no respectable garages/mechanics around here. still have not ruled that thought out. i am not a local to this area, and i am beginning to think there are not a lot of people from around here on the board, that, or they are not satisfied with their MOT? i guess i will have to give google/yahoo a shot.

Anyone know of a trustworthy place to get my MOT done around near Thetford, Newmarket, Bury St. Edmunds area?
  7. I did drive up from Southampton yesterday, but I drive a 1999 Silver Toyota Altezza RS200z with A'PEXi Power Intake, Fujitsubo SuperEX header, Kakimoto Regu 96dB-R muffler, TRD Sports Catalyzer center pipe, TRD Quick shift lever, TRD Front/Rear Lower Suspension Brace Set, TOM'S Side Frame Reinforcement Brace, TEIN Rear Performance Bar, TEIN Driving Spec Control Master Type Flex. not a white Altezza, sorry mate, it was not me you saw. I did have a Silver IS200 doing drive by's on my Altezza while I was having fish and chips around the corner from the dock next to the tanning salon.
  8. Finally picked up my Altezza from South Hampton. Drove it all the way up to southern Norfolk. I did not realize how much I missed that car. I have not driven it since February. My next step is to get the MOT done. I am also going to need some license plates.
  9. The Altezza RS200 and AS200 and the Lexus IS200 all have the J160 transmission. The 3S-GTE that Yeldarb put in his car was originally mounted transversely, not longitudinally; The transversely mounted 3S motors mount to a trans axles in the MR2 and Celica, and whatever else Toyota put them in. That is why he had to get a mounting plate for the motor. The motors are essentially the same, but there are several differences that make this conversion costly, as Yeldarb will attest to.
  10. I just left Japan. I have an Altezza on its way here. The IS200 and the Altezza AS200 are the exact same car mechanically, unless yours is LHD, then the biggest difference is that. but the Altezza RS200 has the same 6MT as the AS200/IS200. and the Altezza AS300/Lexus IS300 has a different gearbox. So, to answer your question, yes, the Altezza 6MT will fit... you would be better off just buying an Altezza though, in my opinion. If you have that much done to your IS200, it would most likely be easier to just switch it all over to a manual transmission vehicle vs. doing a manual conversion. But that is just my opinion, good luck with your search. If you need a mechanic, and you are up north (Aomori Prefecture?), let me know, i can point you in the right direction for parts and labour.
  11. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=55851 read this thread very thoroughly, and look for a dude: Yeldarb i think you would be better off doing a motor that is originally mounted longitudinally, not transverse like the 3S-GTE, but that is my very own personal opinion, or, buy an Altezza 3S-GE, and turbo charge it. just curious, is there something wrong with your motor, or do you just want more power?
  12. i figured that out after i had my car on a lift, and had drained the diff and gearbox fluids... thankfully we ran round the corner and got a plastic ketchup dispenser (unused luckily) and used that to fill them both up... quite silly in the end, but i was in a panic at that moment
  13. i have been in England for about 2 weeks now, and i am glad i went with the coil overs, because i am not sure my car could take much more beating underneath with the lowering springs i had on it. i actually have mine set to the highest recommended setting (40mm i think) and it is a little higher than where my HKS springs sat the car, and i scraped and hit just about everything that was not pristine paved road, that would have been murder in the snow. if you plan to drive the car mostly on nice roads, save yourself some money and get springs, but mine is a daily driver and i will only be lowering the ride height when i know it will not be a hindrance to my exhaust system.
  14. i don't know man, it does not come with any stickers, so watch out, it might be a scam, as only stuff with cool stickers will get you that kind of HP gain, even dumb ol' me knows that much. oh, and ormi, when you are done kicking yourself, come kick me a little for reading all the way through to the end of that smallish print at the bottom...
  15. that power intake will not net you any performance worth noting, it will however make a cool suction sound when you pump the accelerator, and it does free up quite a bit of room in the engine bay... if you look in my gallery in my profile, you can see what it will look like after installed. oh, and if you do install it, the other electrical connector next to the vacuum hoses, i just tucked under the MAF sensor. how to clean? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=65771
  16. i had a similar problem, it was the mass air flow sensor in the intake just before the throttle body. it is a standard Toyota part, meaning it is not specifically for the Altezza, should be able to replace it without too much trouble. one guy on here had almost same problem, he said he cleaned his sensor, and then it worked fine, but that may have been an IS200? just curious, what did you do with your old motor?
  17. to be honest, as best as i can remember my shift lever does not move too much, even before i put in the quick shift i do not remember it moving a whole lot at idle. and congrats on the car, pictures? details?
  18. I had HKS lowering springs on my stock shocks, not TEIN, but it was really nice. only thing was my undercarriage was hitting everything in the road. got some nice scrapes on my differential and brand new center pipe before i fitted the coil overs. A friend of mine put some TEIN super street springs on an IS300 back in the states, and he swears by them. Pillowball upper mounts are here: http://www.tein.com/products/upper_mount.html
  19. on top of what E910 said, the A'PEXi power intake is not that much better, just frees up a lot of room in the engine bay. I did not notice any power gains when I installed it. If you want to do something worth the money, time, and effort: when it comes time to do your timing belt, purchase a new TRD or HKS head gasket to up your compression even more, and a TRD sport thermostat. then, when doing your timing belt and pulleys and water pump, drain the radiator, remove it, pull the head, swap the head gasket, reinstall the head w/your new spark plugs... maybe some cams while you are in there? then swap your thermostat while your radiator is empty. then put it all back together again. which if you decide to do all that, let me know, and i can type out a step by step... there are several ways to eek out a few HP here and there. but to get over 250, you are going to have to stroke or force induction. you can get the Trust/Greddy turbo system, or the Blitz compressor system. hope that helps; good luck with whatever you do, and keep us posted.
  20. RS200 is standard Z is sport edition with stock lowering springs, stock sport clocks after 1999 (mine did not come with sport clocks), tinted rear windows, and LSD L is luxury edition with tinted rear windows, and i believe leather seats? there are also two special editions: first is: TOM'S E910 which is decked out with all TOM'S suspension, computer, and other pieces parts. second is: NETZ special series w/TOM'S turbo setup; this one came with lots of TRD parts as well as TOM'S parts. your best bet is to go for the latest model z edition you can find. i usually try to get the most stock car i can, but when it is coming from Japan, you might get some nice surprises. hope that helps a little; good luck with your search, keep us posted on what you find.
  21. I agree 100% with what Yeldarb posted! And also, their is a big difference between the standard 3S-GE vs the BEAMS 3S-GE, although both heads are Yamaha. http://www.beams-redtop.com/index.htm Main difference is compression ratio, but also throttle bodies and I believe that the BEAMS has coil packs and the other 3S-GE/GTEs have distributor caps. Yes I do know that the 1G-FE had a BEAMS option as well, but I am not sure about that information.
  22. http://www.rhdjapan.com/trust-greddy-td04h...zza-3s-ge-54055 http://www.prolex-uk.com/store/product_inf...products_id=736 If you are already going to stroke the motor, forget the stock 3S-GTE. Take a look at the links. The biggest setback for these bolt on forced induction systems is the stock compression ratio. If you are going to use the TODA low compression stroke kit, this will offset that. If I am not mistaken the BEAMS motor uses coil packs anyway, and the other 3S-GE/GTE motors use distributor cap w/rotor for spark. That means you would have to get new electronics, which I guess you will be doing anyway when you force induction... Your next issue will be your transmission. Remember, Yeldarb paid a lot of money to someone to get his car running, and then had to take it to someone else and pay them a lot more money because the first set of dudes did not do such a great job? (correct me if i am wrong Yeldarb) Be wary of that route, it could get costly. I am sure he is content though. You should read his thread completely, I have several times, lots of good info. My MR2 experience was leading me down that road, now I think maybe not. Now I know that this next will get some smiles and what not, but, you could use both the Trust/Greddy Turbo kit, and the Blitz Compressor kit? Lancia had a Super/Turbo charged car for rally sports... just some food for thought. Good luck with whatever you do, and keep us posted. I would be interested to see which way you go with this.
  23. TEIN and Eibach also make excellent lowering springs for IS200/300 and Altezza I actually have some TEIN pillowball uppermounts lying around somewhere for springs. bought them before i decided to go coilover...
  24. i did not realize the catalytic converter had anything to do with sound? i thought that was the muffler? i have a sport cat, and i am still working on venting issues. also, my header is way less restrictive, have a look at the pics in my profile.
  25. you should be able to get the part numbers and take them to a Toyota (not Lexus) dealer, and get them for a reasonable price. are you planning on doing the work yourself?
