  1. thanks abbas, yeah i'm finding these lexus' tricky enough to sort when there is a noise or rattle. any time i try and sort out a noise, end up nearly ripping the whole car apart before i find it.
  2. hey klexus - i told someone today about the cost of tax in ireland and they said "yeah but they get about 170 euro,s a week on the dole over there" !!! is that correct ? i think dole is about 200 a week but i think a new law came out where if u are under 20 it's 100 a week. got my wages to today and and 215 taken out of it in taxes. that'll do one person's dole or two under 20's.
  3. ye are doing ok with those prices lads. here in ireland it's 173 for 3 months tax. rip off or what??
  4. every now and again with the last 3 or 4 weeks, when i go over a bump a single bong sound comes from the front of the car. sounds like the coil spring but i can't see anything wrong with it. i did change the shocks 2 months ago and i didn't notice the sound before then. anyone experienced the same thing or some advise please??
  5. have u used these ball joints? whats the quality like?
  6. good luck with the car. if it's well taken care of, you will love it :winky:
  7. another thing to check are rear hub bushes as u can't buy lexus ones. you have to buy the whole hubs which in ireland cost over €600. u can buy cheaper ones on ebay but i think these are poor quality. u can also find ones for a different make of car and get them skimmed to fit.
  8. right, i've just adjusted the handbrake at the hubs. i had 5 or 6 clicks at the lever and now i have 3 clicks. the rattle is not half as bad as it was but it is still there. an improvement at least but i'd still like to get to the bottom of this.
  9. i have put copper grease on the back of pads and it it still there. i have brought the car to 3 different mechanics and still no joy.
  10. i have exactly the same, a tin sounding rattle. i have it with 6 months and i can't figure it out. i thought it was something to do with the springs and clips on the handbrake shoes. i fitted new handbrake shoes and all the bits and pieces but it's still there. don't think it's the brake pads either as they seem okay. has anyone else had this and solved it.
  11. mine was the same. it was the actual shock itself, however the bearing in the top mount was starting to get worn aswell. it might be a good idea to do the top mounts when replacing the shocks as it could save u taking them out again somewhere down the line.
  12. simple enough job, from memory i think there is two screws near the top of the clock surround and one near the ignition, disconnect wire from switch near ignition, the one that dims the instrument panel, remove clock surround. couple of more screws holding the clock in. remove these. pull the clocks out a small bit so u can get your hand around the back to unplug the wires, now clocks are free to remove and bobs your uncle. don't know if halfords do the bulbs or not but they should be around £3 or £4 of a lexus main dealer.
  13. yeah i am the same but i bought 3 bulbs off lexus main dealer. the price of these 3 bulbs was a whopping 22euro. next time i'll be taking the cheaper option.
  14. there are two bulbs in the switch. the plastic bit on the ends of the bulbs for locking them into place are different to each other. if u buy a universal fitting bulb, i don't think it will lock into place. i suppose u could take the new bulbs out of their holders and put them in your old ones, being careful not to damage them.
  15. there is a difference in the space running along the bottom of my drivers door of 2 or 3mm. because of this the door does not always close first time when i shut it. it also makes a bit of a rattle when shutting it because the catch on the door is not in line with the bit on the frame. does anyone know if the door can be adjusted?
  16. i too am experiencing tyre wear on the inside. are tony settings for standard suspension or does it matter@

the downs i am on about are just a few things i am trying to eliminate at the moment. 1:rattle from shocks ( putting 4 new shocks in during the week) 2 rattle from inside rear brake drum (can't find what's causing this) 3 squeeky clutch ( think it where the cable goes into gearbox) 4 roof lining makes cracking noise on bumpy roads. i was being a bit harsh saying downs as i love driving the car, i am just finding it difficult to stop these noises. thanks for the welcome.
