  1. Hi all, my car feel a bit rougher lately on not so smooth roads. I have new ball joints and drop links. Mechanic has checked everything and can't see nothing wrong. There is also more of a thud if u drive over something, say a cats eye or something. It's not the tires either as i've used the same brand as was on the car when I got it. It's not drastic or anything, but the ride before used to be silky and smooth and now it's not. Any thought's please?
  2. Breakers will be the cheapest. Make sure u get all the bits and pieces including the pocket. There is also a small cap the goes over your existing magnet that keeps the lid shut.
  3. hi steve, the tramlining and floaty feeling could be your geometry. after turning does the steering wheel center by it's self. seen as you're changing the ball joints, you'll need your geo done anyway.
  4. x2 yes you'll need the pocket or else you'll just have a hole there. get back on to him again and ask him to send it on. make sure you have all the bolts and also there is a little black cover to cover the magnet for the lid of your existing pocket.
  5. i got the ones from taiwan and found absolutely nothing wrong with them. had them in 4 days. i think most of the negative feedback about them on ebay is because the seller is in fife and the supplier is in taiwan. several people on here have used them and i have not seen any bad reports about them. i'm in ireland and was quoted €400 which is nearly £320 by lexus for both ball joints. the ones from taiwan including fitting cost me €100(£80).
  6. there are two different sizes for is200.
  7. ormi,so would just cleaning the pistons do or would it be better to replace them?
  8. i had the same problem with two of my wheels. i used that instant puncture repair (the stuff in the aerosol can)about six months ago and they still haven't leaked.
  9. does it still creak when sunroof open? if so it is probably this.My link
  10. roof start creaking again the very next day. so determined to get to the bottom of this, i went with the process of elimination, ie. took everything apart including roof lining. i've finally sorted my creaky roof. there's a black plastic track sort of thing. don't know how or why it's causing creak but it is. by applying pressure to this, creaking stopped. for the moment i've packed a bit of rubber into it very tightly but i'll be doing a better job soon. the rubber does not effect the opening and closing of the sunroof. i know the plastic trim around the sunroof makes noise for some people but mine does not. now an attempt at adding pictures and hopefully this will help some more people on here sorry i think that attempt with pics didn't work.
  11. alternator belt tensioner bearing????? at a guess!
  12. is it grating all the time or just when u brake?
  13. update: took sunroof off completely, drove car and the creaking was still there. then i gave the roof lining a good tug all around the edge of the space for the sunroof. guess what? no more creaking. probably only a temporary fix and creak may come back but for the first time in two years there is no creak. fingers crossed.
  14. anyone got advice on this? please.
  15. steering feels a small bit heavy lately. the back of the powersteering pump is oily so i presume the o ring in the back of the pump is gone. would this alone make the steering heavy or am i looking at something a lot more expensive.
  16. if the fan is not coming on i presume the car would overheat especially with the hot weather we are having. so the needle would go up higher than halfway with no fan. would the thermostat be stuck???
  17. how far up has the temp. gauge needle gone?
  18. has anyone had a creaky roof lining that they have managed to sort out. mine's creaking with two years but it's getting worse.
  19. this is probably too easy to be the answer but is the button to the left of the steering for dimming the dash lights turned up to the last
  20. for the squeeky clutch, there is a rubber boot on the gearbox where the cable go in. pull this back and spray grease in. as for the brake noise. it's doing no harm but it is annoying. the grease helps but does not get rid of clunk completely. mine make noise and i'm not 100% sure what's the exact cause. there are about 3 kits you can buy for your front brakes. 1 anti squeel, 1 anti rattle and 1 with fitting clips. if u bought these along with proper lexus brake pads it would probably fix noise but not sure because the cost of these parts is crazy. i'm in ireland and it's around €500. so for me it's a matter of putting up with noise. copper greasing back of pads does help though.
  21. changing power steering and also changing aircon compressor. is there any guide on these subjects on here. would like to read up on these matters before i tackle them. like bleeding pump and right tension on belts afterwards and anything else i need to know. not a mechanic but like the satisfaction of fixing things myself. any help is greatly appreciated.
  22. maybe a sensor got moved or pulled????? is your abs working ok?
