  1. i found on one of my wheels that this was happening, every month or so i would have to top it up with air, had the tyre checked etc and it was fine, the problem was that the previous owner had the wheels refurbished but it was not a good job and there was a servere kink in the paint where it had corroded etc right across the inside of the rim and slowly but surley letting air out
  2. Hey chaps, was hoping to get some advice on a problem I have. A month ago or so this started randomly, when I started the car and let it warm up for a few minutes, I gave the accelerator a few light taps and noticed a faint crackling noise, and then went away as quickly as it had started, thought nothing of it until it has happened a few more times since, including today so I took a video before the noise went away again. This might be nothing, or something simple so apologies if im being stupid lol.
  3. hi guys, was thinking of lowering the car but i had in mind eibach pro 35mm or the sports spring that are the same from lexus themselves, but i was reccomended to get Tenzo 50mm springs, i like it low but will this be too low, any of you guys ever had these springs and what are they like? thanks -baz
  4. back plate was bent, so i bent it back, no whistle, all that for the simplest thing, hope this helps
  5. thanks for the comments guys. i agree entirely ken , i forgot to mention that its £30 a wheel if you want the tyres and balancing sorted but if you just want the wheels done without the tyres its £20 a wheel , apparently though lexus wheels are notorious for being a bugger to remove the existing coating and they had to send them to another place to be dipped in a stronger industrial acid , so the 4 day turnaround i was told ended up being just under 2 weeks , worth the time and every penny though . looks mint, like the grill colour with the green of the car, the wheels are a good job alright, need this done myself, and also dont like the gold horns, but its unique i suppose, you should get it lowered for the proper sport look
  6. agree here too, clicking on my 2000 sport is very low but *** it, i love the car and this doesnt bother me in the slightest
  7. the wobble means there is a warped disc, i had the same shudder when i braked hard, so my mechanic had the discs skimmed and put new pads on (wanted good pads anyway)and the shudder has gone, after doing this and getting new pads put on the whistle is still there so this did not solve the whistle problem, going to take it to a toyota specialist and see if they can sort it out, someone mentioned on another forum it may be a complete new hub assembly which is needed, time will tell, ill keep u chaps posted
  8. dont buy one they are sh*te lol, nah im only jokin, all the chaps say go for it but im happy with my manual gearbox, i like to put it in whatever gear i feel like at that moment in time, but i would not know much, im a noob and only owned my is200 sport for three weeks but im happy as larry, compared to a nissan micra, my 200 feels to me as smooth as you guys describe the 300 lol
  9. yeah i have also determined its the front driverside making the noise now, and had it up on jack, and spun the wheel, the noise is there and very faint at slow revolutions, warped disk i think maybe for sure cuz previous owner had new pads on etc and the callipers seem to work fine, we will soon see
  10. def a bearing noise or as anwield mentioned a metallic whistle, not the exhaust, as the whistle will speed up if you go quicker, def the wheel/bearing area
  11. sounds like this could be the case, i am leaving her into garage in a few days to get looked at proper, i told the guy to hold the car as long as it takes to fix the problem, so he better know his sh~t, its either this or the hub needs replaced, but im starting to think the cause may be a warped disk, because braking at high speed the car shudders slightly, it gonna be expensive im sure whatever it is, although, all this just because of a whistling noise, god damn it! i drove a micra for 5/6 years and not one problem (respect to the micra), and only owned this lexus 3 weeks (dream car) and starting to get irritated by this one noise, ill not give up on it just yet lol, it will take much more to pry this baby from my hands lol, i have noted everyones thoughts so my mechanic has an idea where to start (he shouldnt need this) but im keeping my fingers crossed it will get sorted and then ill let u all know the crack with it, and if it doesnt get fixed, its going to the dealership to get the works, wonder how much that will cost ?
  12. yeah i bought a sport but it had a standard grill too, i am told it was a dealerships optional extra at point of sale or something, but every sport will come with, half leather trim, metal pedals, differential, tinted windows, only the grill and toolkit etc being an optional extra
  13. Let us know because we are all waiting for a answer so far. I took all the wheels off on the weekend and breaks but nothing so keep us posted. are mintex brakes clasified as cheap?? that is what I got no, i have been told that mintex are good quality pads and they are the ones to go for, i am very eager to get this sorted, if my other specialist mechanic cant sort it im bringing her to the dealership and letting them boys work away, im willing to pay through the nose to get this sorted cuz i only owned the car two weeks, always dreamt of one, now this annoying noise, very happy with car etc but this problem is starting to really bug me, the minute i know what the cause is ill let u chaps know
  14. stick a set of tte springs on and it would look even better
  15. unfixed as yet, mechanic says previous owner had new pads in but they are cheap pads and could be the cause of whistling noise, but im not too happy, thinkin of just biting the bullet and bringing her to lexus dealership but god knows how much that will cost
  16. i have noticed a whistling noise from one of the driverside wheels, its constant regardless of steering etc, getting faster as i speed up, its faint and have been told cheap pads can be the cause of this but i think it could be a sticky caliper, extremely annoying so going to get it sorted asap
  17. i actually prefer the darker wheels on this colour car, i like the contrast it creates, i not a fan of red cars but the darker wheels make it stand out more
  18. post some pics when you get them fitted man, dying to see waht they make the car look like, im thinking the 30mm eibach springs will be low enough and they are good quality, but some people say you may as well go lower but that means cheap springs, i want quality and practicality whilst still giving the lowered effect
  19. yeah i have only bought an is200 sport(2000) and just noticed with window down, when i reach 20mph, i can hear a faint whistling noise, its starting to really bug me now, im sure its something wrong on one of the wheels, left it in to get looked at and the mechanic said it was the cheap brake pads that the previous owner had put in but i dont think he right as regardless of that, the noise does not change when either brakes are applied, im thinking of just going to my dealership to let the boys down there sort it out, might be worth my while instead of trying to get it fixed by someone who isnt familiar with lexus cars, and not sorting the problem out, someone also mentioned that it could be the hub or the callipers, think im just going to go down to lexus, pay through the nose but at least it will get sorted, dont wanna be cruising past the ladies only to hear an irritating whistling noise coming from one of the wheels lol
  20. thanks for the heads up, dont worry, if i think it starts to look faded or weathered ill be removing it straight away lol. ill give it a few months, to see how it holds up. ps do you mean my lexus dealer will do the sports grill sprayed for £40, i was told it would be in and around £100 for this item from dealership????
  21. seems when putting a decat in its better to keep the centre box or a resonater in place for a better sound, seems like the best idea here is to go for a cat back exhaust (resonated) and put in a decat-pipe (which can be changed bach to oem for MOT)
  22. yeah i think ur right, eibach made the tte springs and tte have the rights to sell in europe or something but couldn't find any online which is why as i was considering the eibach 30mm as they will be of the same high standard, but are you saying my lexus/toyota dealer will have these springs possibly still in stock??? will they not be charging an arm and a leg for this product, the eibach are coming in and around £200
  23. thinking of giving the slightly lowered look, and was considering the 30mm eibach spriings, im keeping the origional wheels and wanted to know if this would sit nice on the arches or would it be better off going to 40mm with another brand?
  24. i think this is what muddyell was saying about sounding slightly tinny with no resonator although this has a nice note too
  25. yeah i agree, sounds great, and also loving the drifting, what air filter and exhaust systems are you using???, great set up by the sounds of it lol Ive had a full stainless system made by prospeed exhausts. First of all it was straight through. Found i was losing back pressure so had a resinator put in and got the back pressure back and got the smooth straight 6 sound back too. I only have a K&N panel filter at the moment but i'll have a stainless pipe made up by prospeed and a cone filter. Probably a HKS one before long sounds like a cost effective set up (compared to supercharging etc), which is what i was aiming for lol, do you get more responsivness in lower rev's or what is the difference now compared to factory filter and exhaust???
