  1. If you have no luck with the Lexus Warranty, then please at least get a quote from http://www.longlife.co.uk/ , they have branches all over the uk and are hand made from top grade T304 Stainless steel and are guaranteed FOREVER . A few years ago I had one made by these guys at their branch in Basingstoke and it was far cheaper than a main dealer supplied and fitted exhaust.
  2. Hi Jason, Cheers for this, I will order one and get my local village garage to fit it, as they have a ramp and will do it quicker and they are cheap on labour. Thanks again.
  3. Yes, intend getting this sorted asap. Shipped around for original part NOT from a Lexus dealer and they are still very expensive, so the price if £330 including fitting is not so bad after all, so I think I will get them to supply and fit for piece of mind. Just hope this works !!! Cheers.
  4. Carl, the sensor that you mention, is that the part on your earlier list 89467-48050 MCU3 No1 ? I expect Lexus to charge me £331 like the other sensor. Could I do this myself, is it just a case of unscrewing one end and unplugging the other end or should I leave it to Lexus ? I have also read that when changing these parts, its best to get them from the dealer and use original parts, or can I get this part from somewhere else is lexusbrim on eBay? Appreciate you sticking with me on this and helping. Bobby.
  5. I think your are right, I will get a quote from Lexus and take it from there. Just worried why they are not saying the same thing though !!
  6. Can anyone recommend a specialist in OBD dashboard errors. I need someone who can do more than plug in a OBD reader and scratch their head and give me a load of maybe's !! I live in Wokingham, Berkshire, but I am willing to travel a long distance to get my issue sorted.
  7. I'll ask on Monday, but as they have said, they have checked each sensor individually, the sensors seem not to be the problem...I think.
  8. OK, I have done some more research on Google and this new addition to the MOT comes into effect on 1st April 2013. So unless I get this fixed, my car will never pass the MOT. My situation just proves how Joe Public is going to get stiffed by garages for more money, even though the main Lexus dealer has confirmed there is nothing wrong with my car. A bloody injustice if you ask me. I am going to speak to my Lexus garage and ask them what they will do if I get them to MOT it, when they themselves say there is nothing wrong and they cannot extinguish the warning light.
  9. Ok, for anyone who is following my ongoing quest..... my car was at Lexus all day today to try and determine what the hell is going on. Lexus have been as helpful as they can. They checked as much as they can and according to them the code P0031 which is showing and the tasks that they have completed indicates that everything is working as it should. All sensors have been individually checked and are working fine. Options are to give them my car (for as long as it takes) to fault find and check all wiring etc (£££££££), they also said that it could be the ECU, but they (all the technicians) are 90% that it is not this, because they have not known one to go wrong. Also if it was the ECU, it would not show just this one code and other things would also be going wrong. Even if I went for a replacement ECU, they cannot guarantee that this would sort my problem and clear the code. So I have went for the cheapest option, which is to continue to drive the car, check and clear the code frequently myself, hoping that it will "vanish". If another code shows up in the future, then this may help pinpoint what is going on. Lexus have said that there is no damage being done to the car and I am in no danger, so I suppose I could just live with the lights on the dash !!! Concern is, there may be a new law introduced about dash board warning lights being on during a MOT results in a fail !!!! Bloody hell, what to do !!!! Any idea guys ??????
  10. I just read Concho's original post again and spotted that he is looking at up to £7.5k for a late RX300 !!! Surely for that budget, it's best to by pass the RX300 and go for a 400h (can get a 2005/2006 model on Autotrader, ok it will have high mileage, so what, if it has FLSH and has been looked after, it should not be a problem), wont get a RX350 for that money, as they seem to be holding their value more.
  11. Cheers chaps, funny, I found both your recommendations during my searches and I went for Lexusbirm on ebay, genuine Lexus product, great comms and they shipped it out today. Thanks. Bobby
  12. I have just checked my cabin pollen filter at the back of the glove box and it definitely needs replacing. Lexus state that it should be changed every 10k, depending on you driving environment. Mine was last changed about 20k ago, so I best do it. Apart from sourcing the part direct from the dealer, does anyone know where and what brand is best. There are some on ebay, not sure if they are any good though !! Thanks. Bobby
  13. Totally agree with the comments. In plain terms , you will never get another warranty cover that is as good as the proper Lexus Warranty. Either stump up the money for the Lexus one, avoid any other warranties like the plague, or stash your money away and hope nothing goes wrong. Better still, get a 12 + month interest free credit card, use their money and keep your own cash in your own account until D Day and pay off the balance before the interest free period expires. Decisions decisions !!!!
  14. Well, I can only assume the Lexus garage changed the correct one !!! The Lexus invoice states: Code P0420 Cat Below Efficiency Bank 1, Replaced Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxy Sensor Part replaced, it says Sensor, Air/Fuel L89467-48060 Funny thing is, I put my OBD reader on it today and the code P2238 does not show and now it shows error code P0031, sorry cant remember the fault description, as I have cleared it, but it will come back on tomorrow !!! All this is confusing me like heck !!!
  15. Bugger !!! My dash lights are back on, so I guess I wasted £300 getting the bank 1 oxygen sensor changed !!! I now have a different error code, does anyone know what it is, is it the cat ? The error is P2238 O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 1. I am totally pi**** off !! Going to the pub tonight to drown my sorrows !!
  16. Great to hear you did yours so cheaply !!! I bit the bullet and got Lexus Reading to do it for me. They changed the Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxy Sensor Air Fuel for the pricely sum of £331 (I know, expensive, but I was fed up going round the houses with this issue). Before the work started, they did warn me that this "may" be the cause and they could not guarantee that this would exstinguish the lights on the dash, if it did not, it would probably be the CAT !!! Any way, no lights on the dash since Monday and in the past they came on after a few hours or so, so I think it's sorted !!! I just find it hard to believe that with the technology today for Car Technicians to determine a fault cause, it just gives them a "area" of the car in which the fault may be, why does it not just tell them EXACTLY what needs fixed !!! Cheers
  17. Cheers for the valued feedback, I have made a few notes and I will see that the Technician and Service Dept sees it on Monday when I take the car back.
  18. Thanks very much for this very useful information. My car was at the Lexus dealer on Friday, but due to a software issue they had they could not determine if it is the rear Bank 1 sensor or the CAT sensor, so it's going back next Monday. I will pass this info onto the mechanic...sorry, I mean Technician !!! I do hope it is something simple, if it is a sensor, I'd prefer it not to be the CAT one !!! Cheers PS: So when I was told by a independant garage that my car currently does not have ABS due to this fault, is that true or just rubbish ?
  19. If its just the centre part which surrounds the gear stick, then all you have to do is put both hands underneath the trim at the front and just pull vertically upwards and it will just clip out. I have done this a few times with no problems. Excuse any typos etc , as I am doing this on my mobile.
  20. Correct, I would advise NOT to have Terraclean done on your car until it has been tested and been around for a long time. It may be a coincidence, but due to me having this done on my car, I probably have a HUGE bill to get this rectified. I am booking my car into Lexus Reading next week to for them (the experts on Lexus) to assess the cause of my engine and VSC lights and see what the cost will be to properly extinguish them. I will let you all know what they say and what the cost will be ££££££££££££.
  21. Hello, you will be very lucky to find such a late upgrade on Ebay, but by all means have a search. Just make sure that you check your current Discs serial numbers on the EU Lexus mapupdates site so that if you do find some, they will be compatible. Good luck.
  22. Hello, I had a seperate entry on Engine Light and VSC (P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1), but now that the garage say they have narrowed the cause down, I would hopefully like some more help from anyone !!! I have been told that the main issue I have is that the sensor (or part !!!) which controls the ABS has gone, which means I am driving my car with just the mechanical brakes and no ABS assistance. I have also been informed that this will be VERY expensive to fix, may save a few hundred pounds if I go down the second hand part route.. I am waiting for a proper detailed quote from the garage and I will then be able to share with you what the "garage" terminology is for all this !! Has anyone any advice please ? Thanks

  24. If its a high mileage one and is close to 100k, ensure that you factor in that you will have to get the cam belt changed. If it's over 100k, ensure that it HAS been done and you see the receipt. This cost about £300 from a non Lexus garage. Hope you get one, as they are excellent cars.
  25. Google Towbarman, they should cover your area. They fitted a single flange Witter for £350, add about another £100 for a detachable towbar, bumper needs to be cut and also has to come off, these guys do nothing but towbars and do it in about 90 mins. Very good job and they come to you.
