  1. Yep, that's the exact same error code and fault description that I get. But I have been reliably informed that there is sod all wrong and my car is running perfectly. Now, I am not saying that's the same for everyone !!! I do know that if you take it to a Lexus main dealer.....you better stop off at the ATM on the way !!! If you can find a honest garage that will connect their fault code reader to it, but also check everything else and they confirm that there is nothing wrong, then leave it (as long as you can live with the warning lights on the dash being on), but possibly do as I did and buy a reader for £20 and cancel the codes BEFORE you take it for a MOT.
  2. I have had these on my RX300 with no problem at all, excellent in both dry and wet, but particularly outstanding in wet conditions, which is ideal for the crap UK wet weather we have. I only found one place that sells them (at the time, Google camskill.co.uk), may be more now. I got them delivered and my local garage fitted them for me. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. Depends how much you value you life and your families lives !!! UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 2 UNIROYAL RAIN SPORT 2- 235/55R18 100V FR TL
  3. It depends on which one you purchase. I have the engine light and VSC light that comes on all the time and I have been reliably informed that there is sod all wrong. I bought one on ebay for £19.95 which definetly works on Lexus's. It clears the fault for about two days and gives you the code and fault. For me, it was worth it, as I cleared the fault prior to having my cars MOT done, if I had not cleared it, the MOT centre are obliged to list it in the comments field of the new MOT certificate. Just wish I had known all this prior to paying £30 and £40 pounds for some other bloke to plug his in !!! Look for item number 150879985740 on ebay.
  4. Parcelforce will deliver with a signature for £14.50. They are only 4kgs, but its the size and shape (a bit like a pair of skis). So how about £64.50 in total ? Let me know, thanks. PS: Sorry, I am not set up to do PM's and don't know how !!
  5. I would buy them if reasonable price. You can have them if you like (not sure what you are going to do with them !!), dread to think what shipping cost would be. You could collect if you are near Reading/Wokingham. Make me a offer and they are yours.
  6. I had this done by the dealer about 8 years ago, long before Lexus thought that the RX's looked better without them. Once they are taken off there are a few rubber strips which need to be bought and inserted into the rails. If memory serves me correctly, it cost about £100. I still have the roof rails in my loft, as there is practically no chance of selling these on their own. When I come to sell or trade in, the new owner can chose to put them back on or not. As far as the MPG goes, I don't really know, but it does not take a rocket scientist to tell you that if you take anything of a exterior of any car which sticks out, it's got to make a difference. Hope this helps.
  7. As per the official schedule, leave the plugs and possibly get them done at the 100k cambelt change, but best to get the fluid done, certainly no harm. I now use a ex Lexus Dealer mechanic who now runs his own company on servicing Lexus's and his method is, he inspects what needs to be changed as per the official schedule, but if it looks ok, he just leaves it. If there is nothing wrong with your fluid and you have not been towing or testing the car to the limits, then it's probably ok.
  8. Not sure what planet your Lexus dealer is on. Everyone knows that the cambelt is done at 100k and it's not a cheap job either !!! (and you can save yourself some cash by having this done at a independant garage). Total waste of time getting it done before the car reaches 100k. I am sure you have better things to do with your hard earned cash !! All this information is in your service schedule book.
  9. I have just spent the last hour researching this option and it's a real possibility. I have watched many videos on Youtube and if it's done properly to a high standard, then it's worth getting done. I have emailed a company with a branch in Southampton for a quote, along with a few detailed questions. Thanks
  10. Look mate, it's a 2003 well looked after, full Lexus History, front and rear RELIABLE parking sensors, with sat nav, power tailgate, bluetooth, ipod/android connection etc, ok, it's got 100k on the clock ,but that's nothing to a Lexus dealer when you are buying, but when you are trading in...forget it !!... so I will be lucky to get a balloon and a whistle when I trade it in, whether it be a Lexus main dealer or a independant. It's amazing how much a Lexus RX is when your buying it, it's a totally different story when you are selling one...but, hey, we all know that, otherwise don't by a RX :)
  11. Hello, I am thinking about upgrading my RX300 for a RX400h, but will not do it unless I can find one in white. I know it's not everyones colour, but it's mine !! I have actually found one on Autotrader which is on sale at Cargiant in London, but unfortunately it is a very low spec (no sat nav, no auto tailgate opener etc, once you have such luxuries, it's hard to do without !!). I expect it must have been a special order to see one in white !! If anyone happens to come across one for sale, I would much appreciate being informed about it. Thanks
  12. I am having a Witter Towbar fitted this Thursday on my RX300 for £360 by www.towbarman.co.uk (don't let the name put you off), they come highly recommended. Going to the main dealer for such a item is way beyond me !!! They discussed all my requirements ie what I intended using it for, the various types to chose from and they even sent photos and install guides with photos, so that I could see what I was getting. Ok, I have not had it fitted yet, but I am sure it will be fine.
  13. In my opinion, you are more than entitled to have a full refund (based on what you have said). Failing that...and if you still want the car, ask to see the SALES MANAGER and either get a wopping discount or some wopping discounts on future servicing/extended warranties/accessories etc. The last thing they want is the car back and last of all, you informing Lexus GB of the standards of this Lexus Dealership. Go get em and good luck.
  14. Well aware of the Lexus "Essentials" I had a Jeep when they first came out in the UK many many years ago and they introduced a similar type of service for 5+ year Jeeps, so Lexus are trailing on the concept. 30% is good, but I'd rather have 50% + off from UK Teknics who are ex Lexus technicians and have all the Toyota testing kit, as I have seen this with my own eyes. Anyway, it's just another option for us Lexus poeple, so it's up to the individual in the end to chose. Cheers
  15. A bit late in replying to this, but some useful info for everyone in regards to a decent alternative independant Lexus/Toyota specialist rather than going to a Lexus Main Dealer for servicing. Try UK Teknics in Maidenhead www.ukteknics.com Main contact is Waleed and his specialty is the RX400h, but does all Lexus and Toyota models. Very reasonable rates and will only change what is needed and will not just change it due to the guide books saying it "should" be changed. Worth the trip to Maidenhead !! They are always busy, so don't just turn up, phone first.
  16. Hello, Just want to know if anyone can help in regards to my engine and VSC warning lights coming on. I had my car system decarbonised last Monday (done 100k, so enough to be cleaned out !!) using the TerraClean system as advertised on Wheeler Dealers, my engine and VSC warning lights came on on Friday. Not sure if this is a coincidence or is connected. It's relatively new in the UK, but I have to say that since having it done, my MPG has got better and my car responds far better and also sound better. I have read various threads in regards to extinguishing these warning lights (taking the fuse out and disconnecting the batter), this cleared the lights for about one day, but they have came on again. My last resort is to go to Lexus and have them look at it, but I am sure they will just say that one (or more) of the sensors have gone £££££. Was thinking of taking it to my local garage to have them clear it with the usual computer gadgets and wait to see if they come on again. Any advice or feedback will be appreciated. Thanks
  17. Hello, I am not going to really answer your question here !! I really do not see the point in purchasing any Hybrid vehicle unless you are doing a lot of "about town" driving and doing less than 40 MPH, as the electric motor only kicks in at that speed or less. If you are going to do a lot of motorway miles and REALLY want a RX then I would go for a Lexus 350, otherwise, you are driving round in a very heavy hybrid car thinking that it is economical !!! Okay, there are benefits such as the car tax, emissions, doing your part for the planet etc etc. I have a friend who bought a 400h without doing his homework and rarely benefits from the electric motor part of the car and the MPG is crap !! I just wish I was in a position to change my RX300 for a RX350 and in my opinion, this generation car has the bset shape and looks.
  18. These units are the exact same units which are installed in most production cars that come off the production line with auto folding mirrors as standard. I expect that there is a safety back up to prevent such damage. More or less what we already have in our existing manual folding mirrors i.e. if you press the folding button and something is preventing it from folding, it will simply click a few times and give up and neither damage the mirror nor the motor. But it is a good point and I will ask my supplier your question. Cheers
  19. Sorry Steve, I sorted this by having a Skype video call with a guy in Australia who supplies these units, found him on the Australian Lexus Forum (his Forum name is Ashpoint). He sources these units from Bangkok. He has great detailed instructions in colour (for the wiring) and photos and is prepared to give back up support via Skype/Voip if you have a problem. If you do a search for IS 250 Folding Mirrors, he has a thread abot the cost etc. He makes no secret of his email address (michaelr@ashpoint.com.au) If you look at my previous request about this, then this unit does all of that. He will ship it from Australia to the UK and it should arrive within 8 days. Once I have done it all, I will post a update.
  20. Forget this, I have it all sorted now !!!!!! Hi Folks, I have done a search and found some various threads on how to make the existing electric mirrors fold when the ignition is turned off and on (without using the button on the dash !! ), but they are from a long time ago. I religiously press the folding mirror button before exiting the car and then pressing it again to have them fold out again. I have done this so often that the little painted icon on the button has worn away :( Various searches on Google have led me to a company in Bangkok who have a kit called po-40 Folding Mirror Upgrade Kit !!! I think there is also a Lexus Member in Australia called Ashpoint who has also popped up on various searches !!, but not sure if I can PM him via our UK site !! Has anyone done this with a tried and tested kit ? Any help would be approciated, I have a 2003 Lexus RX300 SE. Cheers Bobby
  21. I had a similar issue with my RX300 a few years ago and I took it to my Lexus dealership and they said it was the Geometry !! To be honest, I am not sure if this is another name for tracking/wheel alignment !! Anyway, it seemed to solve the issue. It's up to you, either pop it into your local Lexus dealer, no doubt they will find something wrong and charge you accordingly, otherwise, go for the cheaper option and go to any Tyre and Exhaust place and get them to check the tracking and balancing of the wheels, this may solve your issue !!
  22. What they mean when they say there is no drilling and existing holes are used, they are correct, BUT, the holes are used with small metal strips which are pre drilled themselves and they slot into the existing holes and the bolts screw into them and secure them to the car. I have some which I sourced from Holland which are on my car and I have plenty of photos. If you give me your email address I will send you them. Saying that, there are some cars, like my old Toyota Rav which did actually simply bolt onto the car with the pre drilled existing holes. But Lexus are of course different. Makes one think what all these holes are actually for in the first place !! (I have tried loading one photo to show, but it says the file is too big !!!).
  23. Hello, Google Multimac, this will solve all your problems. It is accepted by insurance companies and has passed all crash tests and is totally legal. Mind you it is VERY expensive, but you get what you pay for and when you are talking about childrens lives, it's well worth it. We have one and it's far better than individual child car seats. Goodluck.
  24. Glad to hear that you are happy with the conversion, but I am just not convinced about doing this to any car. It cost you £1800 three years ago, have you actually got your money back in savings!! On top of that, I assume you still have to get the car serviced in the usual way and on top of that a LPG conversion needs to be serviced once a year also, so that's "another" additional expense !! I see no evidence that a conversion actually adds value to the resale of the car, in fact I hear it may put people off !! I am all for being "greener" but not at this huge expense. This is just my personal view, I am not trying to start a heated discussion. Cheers...PS: if the Government actually helped considerably towards these installations for the normal public motorists, then I would probably get it done, if I where honest, my REAL issue is the heavy taxes on normal fuel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Grom is the correct way to go, I got mine on ebay from America a few years ago and it just about does everything you require using the steering wheel control. In regards to side bars, I have just fitted a pair myself last week which I sourced from www.bullbars.nl from Holland. They are a little bit more expensive than the UK supplied ones on Ebay, but they are a thicker diameter which works well in proportion to the size of the RX. And the guy Paul, speak and writes very good English and gave me instructions and photos on the install. I have supplied photos to him of the install and the brackets underneath for his website, but I have just checked and he has nor loaded them up yet. I will be happy to send you the photos, cost etc if you send me your email address. Not sure what your reason is for wanting to install side bars, my reason was not for looks but for protection in car parks from the sods who swing their doors open and ding other peoples cars !! Hope this helps.
