  1. Lexus do indeed know about this problem, They even showed me the official Lexus GB released diagramed guidelines for the Lexus technicians to fix the fault. I have a RX300 SE Navigator 2003. I took this to my local Lexus dealer when the car was in it's third year when it had about 20k on the clock, I had rattles from the front of the dash, especially when the inside of the car is really cold, seems to get quieter when the interior warms up. Lexus took the whole dash out under warranty...and the simple fix ? a few rubber strips about 10mm thick and about a inch long. This solved the rattle in the dash, but I also had an annoying rattle coming from the glove box, they tried everything to fix it, but it still rattles. When it really annoys me on long journeys, leaving the glove box open solves the rattle completely !!! A lot of work for such a simple fix and I reckon that I would not have got to know about Lexus knowing about the problem if I had'nt been on good terms with the Lexus Service Staff. Hope this helps.
  2. I would agree with that, the 350 is a very good car and without the added wieght of the Hybrid dive system handles better too ;) Thanks for the feedback, when (if) I change, I think you have all convinced me that the 350 is the best option. Cheers
  3. Hello, I have to ask WHY are you buying from a Lexus main dealer ? You will get a lot more for your money and a better deal if you look on Autotrader. Just make sure that it has a full Lexus service history. If you do buy from a non Lexus dealer or privately, you will not get the faultless Lexus warranty, which is a shame. What I have always done is buy from a non Lexus dealer (or privately) and with the money I saved, I then just purchased the Lexus Extended Warranty and I was still quids in !! Good Luck.
  4. my model year is 03, i think his is 09, ive found my disc in the boot but i dont know how to eject it. do i need to eject it an then compare the disc numbers? Yes, you do need to eject it and get the serial numbers. Should be something like 86271-24126 which is what my 2007 disc is in my 2003 RX300. There is a small eject button which needs to be pushed with the car ignition on, otherwise it will not eject. You can then go to www.lexus-mapupdates.eu and enter the numbers from your disc and the 09 disc and if it states that you can upgrade to the same disc, then they should be compatible. I think the newest one I can upgrade my 2007 disc to is PZ485-X01EU-09 which is the latest available, but I am waiting for the 2010 disc to come out before I upgrade. Cheers
  5. That's interesting, I have never even considered the 350, as I thought it was just a sort of quick update from Lexus so that they had something more up to date on the market whilst they developed the 400h. I thought that the 350 would be less economical to the 300 !! I will do a bit of research and possibly test drive one, but I assumed that there would be not much difference between the 300 and 350, it's just the engine that is different is'nt it ?...Cheers
  6. We almost did the same - but having spent 3 months looking for something new my wife decided to keep the RX and get it converted to LPG. Most we got offered on a 03 SEL with 80k was £9k, average was £8k and some idiots offering <£5k (seems that they thought 03 meant Mk1) Thanks very much for the useful feedback, still deciding what to do !!!! Oh, by the way "We Buy Any Car" qouted £6k for my pride and joy !!!! I think I will start my own company called " I Will Buy Any Car" and offer stupid prices like that !!!!
  7. Hello Members, My RX300 is out of extended warranty at the end of August and I am thinking of trading up to a 400h (about 4 years old with as little mileage as possible). I have the usual problem of whether to trade in or sell privately, either way, I will get stiffed !!! Can anyone give me a rough price on what my RX300 may be worth (trade in and private !). It is a September 2003 RX 300 SE with full touch screen sat nav, remote tail gate and reversing camera and 18 inch alloys. It has 85k on the clock and full main dealer history and is in very good condition outside and inside and is silver with oakham leather interior. I will not hold anyone to any advice which is given, all I am trying to do is to weigh up all my options. Cheers
  8. Hello, not sure if you are still interested, but I have one which I bought from Halfords. There is not many rear bike carriers for the RX300 which fit to the car without a towbar, but this one does. I have only used mine once, so it may be up for sale if you are interested. Hi there I wont hijack this thread, as I feel Damian will want your bike carrier, but could you give me the model name/numer of the carrier so I can see if I can lay my hands on one as well please ? I presume that it will be discontinued by Halfords, but if so, I can try Ebay for another. Cheers Paul Hello Paul, I do not have the box anymore, which would have had more info on it, all I have is the "Idiots Guide", sorry, I mean Instructions Book. All it says on it is "Halfords High 3 Bike Carrier" There are no numbers etc..sorry. It does have a phone number in case of fitting difficulties, it's 01525 850800. It took me ages to find this carrier and it works pretty well. It has a special fitment so that the straps go over the rear spoiler without adding stress or damage to it. It does state that it takes three bikes, I have only used it for one bike and it is pretty high up, I dread to think what it would look like with three bikes !!! Anyway, try that number and see what they say. If Damian does not want it, you can have it. Not sure what the shipping charges would be, because it's pretty big, even though it folds flat. Cheers, Bobby. SOLD...to a guy in my village for £10 plus a beer !!!
  9. Thanks for the feedback so far, very useful and is what I really feared !! Can I ask if ANYONE has taken out a 3rd Part Warranty such as Warranty Direct and claimed against it, especially if you paid that little bit extra to have it serviced/fixed by a Lexus dealer ? I am just wondering wether to take a chance on a 3rd Party Warranty or cross my fingers and hope that nothing expensive goes wrong with my car. I do not want to sell it, as I like it very much. Scary days are ahead I fear !!!
  10. Previous member and now I am back !!!!

  11. Hello Everyone, My 2003 RX300 SE extended warranty expires in September. This means it has reached the 7 year period, but the car is way below the 140k mileage limit, but as my car has had the extended warranty with no gaps when the original manufactures 3 year warrnty ran out, the 140k limit does not apply. I have not spoken to Lexus yet in regards to possible "other" warranty options, or are they just going to show me the door ? I suppose I may look at Warranty Direct if Lexus cannot extend theirs any further. It has been an annual painful period when I have had to shell out the payment to Lexus for the Extended warranty, but it has been well worth it, as about two years ago I had problems with part of the engine and gearbox and it was fixed under the warranty, the bill would have been about £4k according to my Lexus dealer. Any advice/feedback would be appreciated. Cheers Bobby
