  1. Www.longlife.co.uk they will do a custom hand made stainless steel system with a lifetime guarantee. Better and cheaper than a main dealer system.
  2. Not sure they will be compatible with my car's system, but may be worth a try !!!
  3. Just in case anyone is interested, I have listed two Sat Nav discs on Ebay, details below: Item numbers 331018555391 and 331018545476 PZ445-X01EU-11 2012 Version 1 Only the Disc for North Europe and the disc for Central Europe, I am keeping the West disc for myself for the UK. Normally I keep all of these until I upgrade and then sell all three, but this is the last upgrade for my cars Sat Nav according to Lexus Map Updates Europe. If you are from or going to Scandanavia or any European country, then they will be of use. Full in depth details are listed on ebay, so please dont go asking me questions via the forum. Cheers
  4. Play safe and try and get a second hand head unit from the same model and year if you can, although they cosmetically look the same, the units in the 300, 350 and 400 may have different connectors based on what type of system the car has. You can always get these on ebay. Good luck. PS: no doubt one of the other members who are techie savvy on this will pitch in, so wait to get some more input before shelling out your hard earned cash.
  5. I have had my unit out a few times and I would guess that it's simply a case of swapping them over and connecting the plugs. Easy to do. Just pop off the two "fake" wooden trims around the gear stick and there are only four bolts to undo. Just be careful that you use a magnetic ratchet, otherwise you may say goodbye to the bolts when they drop into the geabox housing.... of course I may be wrong about just simply swapping them over and switching them on !!!!
  6. I had my RX300 alongside my friends RX400h and all looked good, so you should be OK👍
  7. I had mine removed by Lexus Bracknell (Dealer now closed, but one in Reading) about six years ago and cost about £150. Sold the roof bars to someone on the LOC Forum for £50. I have always thought that the RX range looks far better without them (Lexus have now realised this, as there are none on the RX450h). I am sure it is a DIY job, as long as you get all the parts to properly finish the job off, otherwise it will look awful. Good luck (see if you can flog the bars and get some money back !!)
  8. As mentioned in this thread, you can get them from LOC member Ashpoint in Australia. He knows what he is talking about, as I was interested in these units a few months back and I had a very detailed Skype video call with him. He will supply them to you in the UK and also give you detailed instructions and knowing him, he will also give you on line help. I chickened out because no one in the UK has done this yet (as far as I know) and I am not that savvy on stripping the two front inner door panels off and getting involved with all the electrical wiring :( I was (am) waiting on someone in the UK to actually do it and get some feedback and then I may have a crack at it. I am sure that any good auto electrican will be able to do this, all you need to do is buy the units from Ashpoint. If memory serves me correctly, I think he said that he was going to get someone in the UK to hold some units for him in the UK for UK orders, not sure if he has done that. If you do go ahead with this, please be sure to let us all know how you get on. Cheers Bobby
  9. There are one or two on ebay, just type in RX400 breaking, last time I looked, there was one in the UK and one in Hungary. But to be honest, when you find one, if you are not quick, there is not much left. There are a few online UK breaker sites, where you enter the part that you want and its sent to every breaker yard in the UK who have registered with them and they all send you details and prices of what they have (worth a try). Good luck !!
  10. I have had my sticker next to the task disc for the benefit of the Lexus dealer to see and apply a discount to my bill without asking....never happens, you have to ask them, otherwise you will not get a discount (discount normally applies to parts, but not labour), but this may differ from dealer to dealer, as will the discount %. Top tip is not to tell them, find out what your bill is and then ask for LOC discount, otherwise, I think they just say they have applied it !!!
  11. Uniroyal Rainsport 2 - 235/55 R18 100V FR TL from www.camskill.co.uk Excellent in the wet and very good in dry weather also (surprisingly good in the ice and snow as well !!). I have been using these for years. Not many tyre places stock these. I buy direct from Camskill and get the local tyre place to fit them for a few quid.
  12. Plenty on eBay. Just type in exactly what you want and loads will pop up. Just remember that for example changing the interior lights to led, you will lose the dimming function of the interior lights when getting in and out of the car when using the remote, as led lights do not dim as far as I know !! Also try autobulbsdirect.co.uk
  13. Yep, so are the RX300...RX350...and probably the RX450h....Lexus will never learn. It's the same with the bodywork of these cars, especially the bonnets (I hear you all say...Yep !!). I'll take note of your wise advice, just still need to know if they are a straight swap or not. Cheers
  14. I think I may have a chance of getting my hands on a set of four RX400h alloys wheels which are in great condition and as my current RX300 alloys are not so good, I was thinking about changing them over !! My current alloys are the 18" alloys. My question is simple....would it be as simple as just swapping them over as a direct fit ? (obviously, I would get them balanced etc etc). Cheers Bobby
  15. It was the catalytic convertor at the rear of the engine manifold , apparently the RX300 has three in total !!! Lexus Bracknell has been closed for many months now and it only leaves Reading as my nearest choice. Both Lexus Bracknell and Reading were part of the Octogan group, but were bought out by the Jemca Group, since then , it has just got worse !!! I think I'll stick with UK Tecniks from now on, albeit a bit further and I have to stay and hangaround in Maidenhead whilst my car is there !!
  16. Hi Barrie, According to Lexus, my ECU needs replacing because they said that was the reason for my Engine and VSC dash lights being on. They did loads of tests, including changing a sensor, which I now understand did not need changed !! Anyway, I took it to Waleed at UK Tecniks and he said it was one of the Cats, so that has been changed and all is good so far. He has said that he cannot understand why Lexus changed a sensor and then said that the ECU needs replaced (maybe, I got the junior technician !!). So, a few quid (well, a lot of quids) later, it seems to be sorted. So glad I did not go down the ECU route, that would have been thousands, unless I took it to a ECU specialist that can either repair or replace for a fraction of the cost of Lexus. But Lexus informed me that if they did change the ECU, they could not guarantee that this would sort my problem.. well, that is just not good enough from the so called experts and my expectations of Lexus main dealers has dropped of the radar !!!
  17. I forgot about Waleed, I've used him before, will call him tomorrow. Thanks
  18. Can anyone tell me where to locate the ECU in my RX300 (2003 model). I need to send it off to get it tested. From what I have heard, once found, its just a few bolts and then unplug it ??? Also, does anyone know of a trusted testing/ repair centre which I can use, as there are many on the internet !! Thanks
  19. The weight I mentioned is very evenly distributed. I certainly would not be prepared to lift a cycle (or more) onto a roof of a car. Do you realise how much mpg you lose with something on the roof of a car !! Also, you would have to be extra cautious with car parks, overhead barriers etc. Just not for me.
  20. For anyone who is interested, I have just posted a full set of genuine sat nav discs on Ebay taken out of my RX300. The item number is 330909221611. Cheers
  21. You can get them from ebay or most online Radiator specialists. That's fine if you can fit the rad yourself. Just be sure you order the correct one.
  22. I now use a towbar mounted cycle carrier for my RX300, but I still have a rear mounted 3 cycle carrier which balances on the tailgate and the top of the rear bumper. I cannot remember where I got it from, but I do remember that it was very hard to find one that was compatible with the RX range. It's in very good condition and was only used a few times and I still have the fitting instructions (may just need a wash, as it's been stored away in the garage). You are welcome to come and view it and make a offer (not worth the bother and cost of trying to ship it to you). I live one minute from Junction 11 off the M4. Otherwise, keep looking, they do exist and you will soon find one. Bobby
